Lately? Probably the soccer knee pads a buyer ordered in extra small and then was mad they were extra small. I got them back covered in blood and absolutely ruined.
eBay did not see any problem with that and I was told that Nike must have screwed up and put the wrong size on the packaging since the buyer claimed they were too small. They advised me that I should have opened the packaging and measured them myself to make sure Nike did not make a mistake before listing them. True story.
1st . buyer returned a hot wheels car that when bought had just come out and was very hard to find. Three weeks later buyer started a return the reason the value had gone down so they can get it cheaper now.

buyer buys a hot wheel for let’s say $10 gets said hot wheel and complains the free hot wheel I send as a thank you wasn’t a more valuable one. Of course ebay gave them the refund. Shame on me for not making the buyer rich with the free item. instantly stoppped sendin any thank you freebies
1. A buyer wanted to know why I was selling a vintage booklet because it had been a free store give-away about 50 years ago. She said because it was originally free, I should not be able to sell it and that I should give it to her free now.
2. A man wanted me to give him a fairly expensive item free because he wanted it as a gift for his girlfriend and said he didn't have any money to buy her something.
3. It's been a long time ago and I don't remember all the specifics but I had one of those "my kid got hit by a car and the medical bills are astronomical, and my wife has mental problems and can't cope with it, my dog died, I got bit by a snake", etc. etc. But he still had time to shop on eBay and ask for a better deal on an item.
I had another that opened a return years ago because a sewing machine I sold him didn't work. I contacted the customer and realized that they never took the cord out of the bottom of the machine and actually plugged it in. (It was in a tiny compartment with a latch under the base.) Case closed. 😀
The most ridiculous are the people who buy an item for parts/not working attempting an INAD because "the item doesn't work/defective".
Ebay sided with me on that one as I pointed out that the reason they chose proved my item description and condition was 100% correct. Their own reason was the reason their INAD claim was not valid. They negated themselves.

False INAD/INRs are the lamest reasons because they are lies, and the scammers don't care they can potentially damage your seller metrics. Often they do know it and know its a form of blackmail.
I sold a postcard once. Buyer said they thought it was a "deck of cards." After a little questioning about how she could possibly be that clueless, the story changed to "I thought it was a puzzle." She finally just gave up and went away.
Buyer bought a 25-year old vintage but new book that was still in its original wrapper. After about 2 weeks of having it, he wanted to return it because "the pictures inside were not as bright" as he thought they should be. I had no words.
I'd some real lu lu's in the day making accusations such as "I installed this on my PC and now my PC is completely screwed up..." I mean they'd rage! RAGE!

My buyer said she loved the fragrance but her husband said she smelled like a whore. Wow -- so many questions......... she wanted to return a completley empty, used every drop of a 30 ml/ 1 oz. bottle. Maybe the husband liked it too much😂!

Knowing that the buyer always wins when they want to I said, Sure start a return here, but wait, 30 days had past. Oops. Cant start a return request. Literally my first sale a PC Game called Titan's Gold Edition. The buyer communicated with me and asked if there was a poster inside the box... Well, brand new item, box is sealed, open it, no longer brand new item Tell him that. He orders, gets it, no poster inside wants return it.
I'm like, "Wondrous! I'm already in the K-rapper before even knowing what's it like to have Charmin on my toosh..." After all, I buy my TP based on Pink animated Bear families on the TV! Like, oh my gosh! Don't we all? LOL.

Its not a 40!!!! The last hole is 39 3/4 Abeltto fit a 40 waist is a couple inches longer. I am a 40 and it does not fit.
This is one of the pictures from the listing, showing that it's 40. (I refrained from telling him to lose a couple of pounds from his paunch.)
Belt buckle: it is a few millimeters small than you said it was, so it was not as described (showing me a micrometer reading rather than my ruler measurement)
"The Free Gift you sent me wasn't big enough" - blocked then refunded. Buyer sent several messages asking me to let her make more purchases as she now needed 6 of the original item she bought and liked the free gift that accompanied it.
I have $1.70 face value of USA stamps being returned for his 2 bucks back. Doesn't he realize using .66 cents for a mailing stamp he only will make a $1.34 profit from this return when he can use the $1.70 Christmas stamps at face value.
Here's another one, a buyer bought a wool lumberjack baseball cap, she returned it because it was too hot on her head and when she switched back to her cotton hat it was much better, she didn't realize the wool hat was gonna be that hot....lmao
Man bought an antique HINGED SCHOOL SAMPLE DISPLAY SET OF DENTURES mounted on an oak block with WITH A LARGE GOLD TONE plaque from one of the earliest dental schools in the country. Unit was 18" x 12" x 10".
He didn't want to return them. He gave me a negative because he couldn't fit them in his mouth and I never showed up to fit them for him.
I had a buyer who wanted to return foundation makeup because it didn't look good on her face, I said well now that you opened it, I can't sell it as new...I never heard back from her again.
With your no returns policy, if you accept the request, buyer will pay return ship. So buyer pays total $12 ship in both directions to receive a refund of $14 for the hat.
Pay $12 for an item you returned or
Pay $20 for an item, keep it and use it
If the $8 makes that big of a difference, why are they buying a $20 non-necessity in the first place?
I've seen complaints on this board from buyers that returned for remorse not realizing they'd be covering ship cost in both directions, then angry they got a lesser refund than expected. Maybe that explains your buyer's request.

Hypothetical question ... if an item (w/ charged S/H) was returned for remorse, and total sum of shipping both ways (initial + return) exceeded that of the initial payment, would it actually end up where buyer gets $0 refund and seller also has to "eat" some of the original shipping cost?? 🤔
Buyer's return label taken as a portion of refund, and seller retains the rest of the refund to cover a portion of initial shipping? Seller is not made whole on original shipping and buyer gets nada? Lose-lose?

No @ajs_coins_and_alchemy . In that situation an eBay return label would not be generated. The buyer would have to purchase a shipping label elsewhere and upload tracking to the return.
>>If the expected shipping charges cost more than the expected refund or the refund value of a replacement or exchange, an eBay return shipping label won't be available.

I sold a vintage Hawaiian shirt. The guy opened a return as INAD. I asked him what exactly was the problem? He said there was a toothpick in the pocket! 😆. I approved the return, got the shirt back, resold it minus the toothpick.
(This is not me providing a lame return reason, just need to comment on the toothpick)

Oh come on! That's a free extra bonus item! I don't understand ... I've literally seen and even had a buyer complain once that they spent "good money" and are upset that I didn't send them a "Thank you gift like other sellers send" and they "could've bought elsewhere and gotten a thankyou gift!!"
So this guy got a freebie extra item and made a return over that? 🙄
Someone wanted to return a 5$ game (+3$ Shipping) because "they couldn't afford it." Likely a scam but seriously for less than 10$CAD you cant afford it? Pathetic lol. I refunded and blocked and went on my way. If you can't afford ten bucks then you cant afford to shop at my store lol
1. A lady got a sweater from me. Claimed it came drenched/totally wet and said there were no holes or tears in the packaging. Took about 5 days to send me a photo...then another 7 days to open a return. She sent it back to me and it was so musty smelling due to being drenched. Obviously I didn't send it drenched. In fact it was a very expensive and nice sweater. eBay stepped in and helped me out with this fraud.
2. Someone bought a sweater new with tags for the granddaughter who was pregnant. Granddaughter claimed it had a strong smoke smell and she saw hair all over it... I am highly allergic to cigarette smoke. They demanded a refund, I told them they had to send it back in order to get a refund. Finally they opened a return, sent it back, and it had one piece of lint that I could find and smelled totally fresh... again, eBay stepped in and helped me out this fraud.
I had a buyer return a set of underwear before because they were lace and had tags in them. They were not listed as "tagless" as there would be no way a lace pair of panties could be tagless anyway. They returned them. I blocked them because I found it ridiculous. 1 week later they went to buy the same set from me again and they couldn't because I blocked them. They sent me an email asking if I could unblock them and let them buy it again because they promise not to return them again. I didn't reply. I also had someone open a return for some candy that were individually wrapped. In the return they cussed me out because she knocked them on the floor when you opened them and smashed them all.
It didn't fit. Even though the size is in the title and description. I also recommend in my description to measure their wrists for a comfortable & proper fit.
Buyers should buy for the body they have, not the body they want (or not for the one they had 20 yrs ago)
Love when they actually get upset and say things like, well all my other jeans are a size x, I don’t know why these don’t fit?!? Of course they don’t take into consideration that the jeans they are referring to/replacing, have been stretched past their last breath.
And never mind we gave you all the measurements to get your best fit?! Do you read the listings? No, of course not.
Yeah, that’s right, we do that extra measuring just for all the fun of it.
It didn't fit. Even though the size is in the title and description. I also recommend in my description to measure their wrists for a comfortable & proper fit.
It just doesn't matter.
Maybe they got inches and centimeters confused. It happened to NASA who lost a $125-million Mars satellite but unfortunately that one doesn't have a return option. 😀

Hey, that's fake news. NASA didn't loose that Mars probe it was the Solar Postal Service and well... If ya ask me it was intentional. I'm mean those "SPS" characters? OCD, ADD, LED, LCD, ODD, LSD I mean WOW!
My lamest one goes back way before the returns went through eBay. I sell magazines and I once had a buyer ask to return a magazine. When I asked her what was wrong with it and why she wants to return, she replied that she had finished reading it and wanted to return it. I just told her I was not running a lending library and she couldn't return it if there was nothing wrong with it. She went away.
Buyer bought a Drive walker from me...FedEx punched a nice hole in the box, so the Buyer just assumed the walker was damaged. Requested return reason was a damaged item (obviously). eBay approved the return and charged ME to pay the return shipping. I received the walker back and found there is absolutely zero damage. I filed an appeal regarding the transaction and eBay said they are going to refund me the $31 they charged me for return shipping. That's great, but I'm still out about $51 on the transaction due to the expensive FedEx shipping that I cannot file a claim on because there's no damage! During the process, I offered to refund the purchase price of the walker and let the Buyer keep it...but THEY TURNED THE OFFER DOWN! Been selling on eBay 20 years...never been so frustrated with a transaction.

·2 years agoI had a buyer who wanted to return foundation makeup because it didn't look good on her face, I said well now that you opened it, I can't sell it as new...I never heard back from her again.
wastingtime101
·2 years agoThe reason that's "lame" is because:
Buyer paid $14 hat + $6 shipping
With your no returns policy, if you accept the request, buyer will pay return ship. So buyer pays total $12 ship in both directions to receive a refund of $14 for the hat.
Pay $12 for an item you returned or
Pay $20 for an item, keep it and use it
If the $8 makes that big of a difference, why are they buying a $20 non-necessity in the first place?
I've seen complaints on this board from buyers that returned for remorse not realizing they'd be covering ship cost in both directions, then angry they got a lesser refund than expected. Maybe that explains your buyer's request.
ajs_coins_and_alchemy
·2 years agoHypothetical question ... if an item (w/ charged S/H) was returned for remorse, and total sum of shipping both ways (initial + return) exceeded that of the initial payment, would it actually end up where buyer gets $0 refund and seller also has to "eat" some of the original shipping cost?? 🤔
Buyer's return label taken as a portion of refund, and seller retains the rest of the refund to cover a portion of initial shipping? Seller is not made whole on original shipping and buyer gets nada? Lose-lose?
wastingtime101
·2 years agoNo @ajs_coins_and_alchemy . In that situation an eBay return label would not be generated. The buyer would have to purchase a shipping label elsewhere and upload tracking to the return.
Policy backup:
https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/start-return/return-shipping?id=4066
>>If the expected shipping charges cost more than the expected refund or the refund value of a replacement or exchange, an eBay return shipping label won't be available.

You'd rather have money? Me too! Sorry though because I spent your money, that's why I sold it.
Guess you'll need to do the same and sell it to someone else....
Can't hurt, even if you have 'automated' returns just to see if they don't return it.
I did something similar 3x and all 3 never left feedback and never followed through with shipping it back.

·2 years agoI sold a vintage Hawaiian shirt. The guy opened a return as INAD. I asked him what exactly was the problem? He said there was a toothpick in the pocket! 😆. I approved the return, got the shirt back, resold it minus the toothpick.

·2 years ago(This is not me providing a lame return reason, just need to comment on the toothpick)

·2 years agoI had a buyer return a set of underwear before because they were lace and had tags in them.

Maybe they got inches and centimeters confused. It happened to NASA who lost a $125-million Mars satellite but unfortunately that one doesn't have a return option. 😀

·2 years agoMy lamest one goes back way before the returns went through eBay. I sell magazines and I once had a buyer ask to return a magazine. When I asked her what was wrong with it and why she wants to return, she replied that she had finished reading it and wanted to return it. I just told her I was not running a lending library and she couldn't return it if there was nothing wrong with it. She went away.

·2 years agoBuyer bought a Drive walker from me...FedEx punched a nice hole in the box, so the Buyer just assumed the walker was damaged. Been selling on eBay 20 years...never been so frustrated with a transaction.
gwenscupboard
·2 years agoYou aren't "out" any money on that transaction.
Since you got the walker back and there's no damage. Relist it, raise the price and resell it. It sold once, it'll sell again.
