I had a friend that I knew from my time, 31 years, selling every Sunday at the nyc Manhattan flea market.
He + I joined eBay the same exact time in 1998 + talked at great length about our sales + situations on eBay during those early years.
We had a tiff and I said I was sick and tired of him always being so negative.
And then I didn’t call him and he didn’t call me but I did call him on his birthday to find his phone â˜Žï¸ was disconnected.
I couldn’t understand how such a man so devoted to Brooklyn could allow his own Brooklyn phone number getting disconnected and he also stopped listing here on eBay.
And then I don’t let it go + finally found out he died of COVID 2 weeks after our tiff!
Looks like they last commented in March of 2022, and never said they were going to stop posting. As expected from the name, that wasn't the username they used on eBay for selling or buying from what I can tell, so there's no way to see if they're still active on eBay. Like @pickapaper said, we'll probably never know. I'm sure each of us will eventually stop posting here as well, some sooner or later than others but many of us without giving any type of notice to the boards that we're not going to be around anymore. In fact, I'd say it's rare that we do know when or why someone stops posting here.

If you announce you intent to stop posting & perhaps why, a likely reply from some people is simply move on, the announcement is not necessary

Does eBay bother to contact or attempt what amounts to a exit interview with someone who hasn't participated on the boards for an extended period of time who was previously very active over manny years ?

I never said or implied that eBay would care. The existence of this thread is proof that sometimes board members here would care. No one owes it to anyone to state that they are leaving or why, however, and I was not saying that anyone should, only that they most often wouldn't so it's not surprising that myboardid did not.
Considering how many good (and sometimes prolific) posters they've banned over the years, probably not.

There were a lot of informative, helpful posters on the old "clothing,shoes and accessories" board who got fed up with the rules and bans and left. Too many good posters were banned while the troll-types were allowed to harass.
People come and go on here. I remember a lot of people who used to post on here but are no longer posting. I suppose it's a lot like life: people get tired of it, get too old for it, lose interest in it, don't want to mess with it, spend too much time on it, or at worst, they die or get ill or have other family obligations that limits their time.
I admit, it would be nice to know "why" with some of them, but we will never know.
