·2 years agoThe account being in your boyfriend's name is a godsend to you, provided any real volume of sales was done last year or this year to date. The boyfriend will be on the hook for all the tax money and you will be on the hook for none of it.
I would take whatever you can and don't make the mistake of making marriage level financial mixing with people you aren't married to in the future.
Also, assuming the account you are posting from is the shared account you would be better off starting over. There is something seriously wrong with your shipping charges and it goes all through your account. Huge Vase, $12 shipping. Stuffed animal, $37 shipping, coffee mug $52 shipping.

·2 years agoSpeaking personally for myself I enjoy starting new selling accounts. It's a challenge and if you have the right positive perspective it can be really fun and rewarding, all at the same time.
I've started 12 different selling accounts over my tenure here on eBay. Out of those twelve accounts 8 are still live and 4 of them including this one are actively selling.
As to that burning desire, that'll carry you a country mile. Best of luck in your future endeavors.

I'm thinking... "I wouldn't touch this with a thirty-nine-and-a-half-foot pole." 🤣

·2 years agoWell, the goods news is that because EBAY account is in his name (he will have all the tax liability from the sales). The bad news is that he wants to keep the inventory (because you co-mingled funds it will be hard to sort out who purchased what items).
Consider yourself lucky you didn't purchase a house together...he sounds like a jerk. Now you are free to establish your own path and see where life leads you. You go girl!

·2 years agoWe don’t know any of the details, so hard to say that he is a “jerk.†Maybe he funded the inventory purchases. Maybe she funded inventory but he paid the rent every month. Maybe she did something unforgivable. Maybe he is a jerk, maybe she is a nightmare, maybe it it just a run of the mill breakup. Who knows?

So I gather you and the boyfriend/selling partner have split up?
Seems to me like a personal issue rather than an eBay issue.

·2 years agoI suppose that you could take him to small claims court and have a judge decide on how to split the inventory. Comingling finances when you are single isn't a great idea, as you have learned.

·2 years agoHaving separate is a good idea. That means when and if a 1099K comes along you both don't argue who's going to get stuck to declare with that to add to their yearly tax returns and who the other one has to pay in cash to the one who added it on their income tax.

·2 years agoLook on the bright side, if the account is in his name the IRS tax responsibility is his.

·2 years agoThis sounds like a personal issue, but are you saying you split up and that's why you have to start over with a new ID? I would think you are entitled to all of your own inventory and he keeps his.
