what to do on a buyer refund...where I stated no refunds...ebay still wants me to refund?

sold a part.  guy already got it and claims it doesnt work.  you can tell its not my part from the pics supplied...or he's an idiot and just piled stuff back in his back seat for whatever reason...either way, the listing stated no refunds, sold as-is where-is since used.

might I add, he also already left me negative feedback.  I have no reason to honor this return but I dont even have it as an option in the return request.  am I screwed regardless? I already reported them but have not responded to the return request yet hoping for some other wisdom from the masses more informed than me.

Always make them return things.  Do it sweetly and pay the label.  Often they drop it there. Report him through the seller hub for misuse of returns to help other sellers. If it's an expensive item,  you have every right to pursue him through filing a police report.  Be sure to provide the case info to eBay.

I'm sure ebay doesn't want to be part to criminals stealing from us. I've never done that yet, but it's my backup plan for anything big.

No returns does not mean no returns...just to be aware...this can make a refund to the buyer and buyer keeps item and some buyers know this. I suggest doing the "buyer's pays return shipping". I had only one this year and he was some cheapie....didn't return the correct item.

A feedback can be revise by the buyer for only 30 days. It's up to you what you can do to change the feedback of buyer. Have to tell you I have refunded and also gave out a freebie a number of times to save my feedback. It does hurt in my pocketbook.

Sorry to say but you are stuck with eBay's decision. There are very BAD people out there who linger on eBay. It's sad but a fact.  Same thing happened to me three times.

First time, the buyer stated that the item wasn't as described but what they had done was keep their own damaged item and use that as evidence. I knew it wasn't what I sent them. It didn't even look the same.

    I did nothing.

Second time, I stated AS IS in the listing - buyer  emailed me asking if any of the multiple items ( Barbie house paraphernalia) was damaged. I had already packed the item as I often do after I post it on eBay and for $9.99 I was unwilling to unpack and look through 30 pieces for any defect.  I told him that. He bought it anyway! Ebay sided with him. So, he got to keep the item and pay nothing. Guy wrote a bad review.

Which part of AS IS don't you get? I waited and asked to take it down which eBay eventually did. The 9.99 was refunded to me eventually after many calls/emails.

But, of greater concern was a recent problem and even having to write this, I still get angry. Buyer purchased about 100 mint condition vintage magazines. We  packed them in construction grade construction bags, tied them shut and shipped them in the boxes that UPS instructed us to use. It didn't travel far - about 15 miles away. This  made me suspect right from the get go because the guy was willing to pay the $80+ for UPS when he could have easily picked them up. I got a notice from UPS that they had been delivered. The buyer stated that he didn't receive either box because they had both opened up and he found the magazines flying around his street. I had the delivery picture from UPS and both boxes were intact.

eBay refunded him his money ( $500) AND I had to pay for return shipping for two empty boxes. Which they charged me $80+ dollars to return to me even though they were crushed and empty.  3 months of frustrating calls and  emails to customer service rep's that have a poor command of English, let alone American English ensued. Slowly I was able to get back the "valuation fee" that eBay had the nerve to still charge me ( their cut of the profit of the sale), then the return shipping fee.  Getting the money back from UPS was an exercise in TORTURE. But, I was determined.

Bottom line is eBay DOES NOT have the seller's back.

If I were you, I would keep emailing eBay relentlessly until you get someone who actually reads your email and responds accordingly. It may take 2 months but someone may eventually side with you.

this is what gets me.  they immediately left me negative feedback and still want the refund.  It was $60 so whatever.  I can clearly tell from the pics, they are committing mail fraud as I used the postal service and have half a mind to call my brother to file such charges against them as I have their contact info now from selling to them but oh well.

whats even more is they are an ebay seller themselves.  my christmas wish to them is that all of their buyers do this exact same thing to them so they can feel my anger and frustration at not even having a chance to make it right before they get the negative feedback....

If the buyer files an INAD, your no returns/as is means squat.

If you want something returned before refunding, you'll have to accept the return and provide a shipping label.

Your no returns doesn’t mean no refunds. eBays Money Back Guarantee will supersede your no returns policy every time.
Sounds like your buyer opened a not as described return so if don’t want eBay stepping in to refund for you you need to accept the return, issue the return label and refund when you receive the item back.
Your other option would be to allow eBay to step in, they will refund your buyer from your funds, allow the buyer to keep the widget and give you a defect for not handling your returns yourself.
Sorry for being blunt, but that’s  how it will roll.

Tagging on... there's a third option. You can issue a refund without requiring a return. Only you can assess if the return shipping label and price you could fetch for it on a relist would suit you.

If you do this, at least you don't get a defect to your seller account. The bottom line is... handle it without eBay's involvement. Good luck moving forward.
