What makes you happy?
When you land on your eBay page are you glad there's a sale or relived there isn't a return? It's usually a mixed bag for me. If the weather is nasty or I'm sick I hope there was not a sale. The worst is when eBay sends back to back messages that for me has traditionally signified a return but these days it's usually promotional material.

·1 year agoWhat makes me happy? There is always something- I’m a happy, positive person 🙂 or at least I try to be.
my list:
1) my new Best of Big Star LP
2) date night with my sweetie tomorrow
3) I have an amazing family
4) travel season for work is coming up - I have the itch to get to Singapore and have chili crab almost every day, at least once
5) college football is less than three months away

·1 year agoNot very much these days. What would make me happy is if I could make a simple $30-40 a day in sales, on average. Not a week! lol

·1 year agoMy hubs and I don't gig anymore because I am too ill. But one thing that made me sooo happy was our last gig at a memory care center one of the people who booked us, came out to thank us as we were packing up, and said, "We have a lot of so so musicians come and play here but you two are the real deal."
I will treasure that for the rest of my life.
Back story...family told me I could not sing. Never got piano lessons. Disfunctional families kill ambitions. Sometimes it takes years to get over it, if ever.

·1 year agoJust curious, how often has the situation of you being sick or something happens and ebay has to send you multiple messages leading to a return?
I’ve never experienced this. I’m not trying to assume anything but as a seller, getting sales should always be a positive part of the experience. One off situations happen and you roll with the ups and downs that come with life, in general.
If someone has responsibilities such as children or having a pet or taking care of a loved one, that person would find a way to ensure their responsibilities are somehow covered by themselves or another person.
Maybe I’m misunderstanding what you were saying and I know I’m not answering your question in your OP but reading your example made me scratch my head is all.

·1 year agoI wake up, pack and ship the previous day's orders, and then go about my day regardless of the weather. I haven't had a return or dispute in ages.

·1 year agoKind of corny but a heartfelt glowing feedback definitely makes me smile, especially when it's not just about my service but the item itself, something they'd been looking for a long time, or was even prettier in person than the photos .... or all of the above -that's holy grail, ha.
Is that BETTER than a >$100 sale? No. But it's so much rarer than it used to be for some reason, maybe once a year, so it feels like a birthday present.
Incidentally I thought it was stupid when they first changed the feedback to default to 'relevant,' but I kinda like it now.

·1 year agoI remembered being 21 and arriving in Paris at 5 AM and I checked my suitcase at the train station locker and at 6 AM walked on the Champs-Élysées up to the Arc de Triumph being deliriously happy at the beautiful breathtaking view thinking I’m now in Paris as the street cleaners were cleaning the streets and my return plane trip home to NYC was for 2 months later.
I’m in Paris! ðŸ™
Notice Eiffel Tower + banlon drip dry dress I was wearing. I brought 5 different of them for that trip..

·1 year agoI like to wake up to see a lot of items sold. That hasn't been happening to me too much this week (items are selling, but during the day). I used to get lots of activity at night time, when the eBay chime goes off in the middle of the night and wakes me up I get excited wondering what sold (but don't look until morning, I kinda can't see my phone without my glasses anyway and they are in my office). Plus if I can't remember where I put something I get worried about it, better to not know what sold until morning.
This morning I woke up to a $58 CAD sale on my other account. That was pretty exciting (considering the eBay Canada account doesn't have lots of items listed).

OP1 year agoI'm used to not finding a sale everday but still dread the possibility of a return.

·1 year agoI rarely get returns, but I sometimes get complaints... not often. Most complaints can be resolved with some kind of partial refund (which I'm OK with if it's my fault the customer is upset). If I think someone is trying to get a free item or discounted item as an after sale discount, I will make them return it for refund and not offer the partial. All decisions are by my discretion.
Generally if something actually gets returned, it's for one, expensive, and for two, whatever is wrong with it can't be fixed with a partial. I had one packaged coin that had a damaged edge. I didn't know because I didn't pack it, and the person in the shop that packed it didn't note it. The customer repacked it and noticed. It was a $300 coin, even at 50% off it's pretty expensive price for a damaged coin. He returned the coin for refund.

plus the return adds more misery to that sale
and $$ lost due to free returns
and sometimes having to refund their original shipping
so sometimes the profit margin is, decreased, wiped off or goes into the negative

If I don't have any sales, I complain.
If I have sales that I have to pack and ship at night after a long, hard day at work, I complain. 😉

·1 year agoNo new sales 0 today so I can stay in tomorrow after going to the gym today.
Got a sale the other day with shipping to Canada...ugh!
I have no problem with a no sale day.
If I don't make money...eBay doesn't make money.
I guess not promoting everything there will be no sale days.
My 'repeat buyers do help out' though.

·1 year agoI have two notifications on my tablet, so I don't have to log into my page to see what's happening. Most of the time, the ca-ching makes me very happy. The message one not so much. Could be anything from a customer complaint (I got two this week I'm resolving), a customer wishing me well (I love them) or an ad or return notice from ebay (hate those).

·1 year agoWell to be honest this week I was hoping for no sales as a family member passed suddenly
But had a couple sales so processed them in the timeline as I was juggling all else.
Usually I just prey for no returns but deal with them as business.
