What is that thing on bottom left of the main page?
Summary: steve_stuff noticed a symbol on the page that resembles a pizza with a slice missing, which only rotates when interacted with. valueaddedresource explained it represents cookie preferences, allowing users to manage how web cookies are handled. There was also a discussion on managing notifications, with several participants sharing their experiences and difficulties in stopping unwanted emails. Some contributors humorously commented on the appearance of the symbol and the caution advised when clicking unknown links.
The thing that looks like a pizza with a slice missing. Or a Pac Man with mumps. I roll over it and all it does is rotate slightly to the right and add an 'X' out button. Doesn't show a location/address like when you roll over 'all posts' or ask a mentor.

(It literally says what it is when you do)
P.S. I'm not a rocket scientist but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express one time back in the 90s

·Jul 11, 2026 at 2:33 PMI simply clicked on it, and it told me exactly what it was. Mystery solved!

·Jul 11, 2026 at 7:56 PMRight, but my Mama always told me to never click on anything unless I know what it is.

·Jul 11, 2026 at 1:24 PMIt's supposed to look like a partially eaten cookie because it's how you can control your preferences for how this site handles web cookies when you visit the forum.

OPJul 11, 2026 at 2:26 PMYou are right.
Now how do I get this place to stop sending me 'someone replied' emails?

In the upper right hand corner of this page, click on your icon. Then click on Profile. Then click on Updates to change your message settings.

·Jul 11, 2026 at 3:51 PMI tried that. It's still sending me notifications every time someone makes a post.

·Jul 11, 2026 at 3:55 PM · Editedhmm, weird. I turned all mine off a few days after this new board started, and I haven't received any since then.
I get a notification if someone has replied to or reacted to one of my comments (like I did for your reply just now), but I don't get any other notifications, and I don't receive any emails.
grann-4629
·Jul 11, 2026 at 4:35 PMThat's all I get too. I could easily and happily do away with the 'reaction' notifications which are just as meaningless as all of the other notifications ... except when a member responds to something I posted.
