What is going on with these buyers straight up lying to get a return approved?
Buyer bought a listing (256461478084) with 4 pictures clearly showing the item, we sent them the item. All genuine DiscSox sleeves. He has actually bought from us before, same buyer.
He gets them and since they didn't match some style he has already that is different than what we posted on our listing, he states that ours are not DiscSox brand. Whaaat?
We listed and sent him exactly what was listed in the listing and even confirmed it in his photos but lies that our sleeves are not DiscSox when clearly they all state they are DiscSox on them. You can see this on the 4th picture of in the listing where they clearly state DiscSox. Why are people like this?
On his return he stated,
"Item IS NOT a “DiscSox” original media sleeve and is NOT identified as DiscSox anywhere on the items shipped. I’ve been using DiscSox for many years and these sleeves are smaller - see photos. One picture for size comparison shows one of my own DiscSox clearly marked (the larger sized one on the right) the smaller one on the left is what was shipped by the seller. Clearly NOT identified as DiscSox and quite a bit smaller."
Like ours are exactly what we listed and all of them have the DiscSox logo on the side right and back as seen in photo 4 of the listing, which was item number: 256461478084
He wanted what he has at his home which is the right of the image, that was his item and clearly when you see our listing picture and compared to his sleeves is not the same sleeve, why even purchase it and then blame the seller and accuse them of selling not DiscSox brand? What? Just utterly ridiculous.
I reported this buyer and blocked him. He has bought the same sleeves from us in the past. Just strange how people are.
This picture below was submitted by the buyer to this site as his "evidence" that my item was not as described because it didn't match something he has at home already. Utterly insane. (I added the words in red to explain what you're looking at)

·6 months agoYou sold CD Pro Sleeves. The buyer wanted (discontinued) DVD2 Sleeves.
[Links provided for informational purposes and photo references only. If someone wants to purchase these sleeves, please shop here on eBay. 🙂]
While your listing did not identify the exact product (CD Pro), your listing did identify them as CD sleeves. This is obvious buyer error.
If the buyer messaged before filing the return, I would have pointed out the difference in products, and let them know I'd accept a "changed mind" return despite the no returns policy.
If the buyer jumped straight to filing a claim, there's not much you can do after the fact, but in reporting the buyer I would clearly specify the buyer wants DVD sleeves which are different from the CD sleeves advertised and shipped. I'd also message the buyer to let them know the product is genuine and DiscSox has many sleeve products, and the ones they ordered are not the ones they already have. That way the buyer (hopefully) doesn't pull the same thing with the next seller.

This is another use case @kyle@ebay where it would be beneficial to communicate with the buyer, while retaining the ability to block sales and prevent more abusive not as described claims. Another failure of the BBL message block.

You have "no returns" on your items. Buyers know that if they file a "not as described" claim, they can return the item anyway, as per eBay's Money Back Guarantee. So they lie.
If your buyer contacted you and claimed a problem with the sleeves, you should have said, "I'm sorry you are unhappy with your purchase. Please file a return claim and you will be sent a label for the return of the sleeves. Upon my receipt of the sleeves, I will issue you a refund." That's all you need to say; there is no point in arguing with a buyer. If you had said something like that, it would have been quick and easy and you would probably have avoided that negative.
A word about that reply to that negative. You obviously wrote it while you were still hot under the collar but replying as you did can do you more harm than you realize. Potential buyers can see your reply, and most will read it that you are a difficult and unreasonable seller who is unwilling to work out problems, and the name calling is the icing on the cake. Many will not want to do business with you because of that. You have a lot of feedback and are an experienced seller so maybe it doesn't matter to you, but you have to remember that you are a business, things are going to happen, and you need to stay calm and professional.

·6 months agoWhat is going on is buyers laughing at your 'no returns' policy.
At least this one used a photo of the actual item. They could use a photo of a bunch of dead ducks if they wanted, and you would still have to accept the return.

·6 months agoBuyers make false claims about returns all the time.
It's all part of doing business online.
You're an experienced seller.
I'm surprised you're not aware of this.
If this is the first time this has happened to you, congratulations.

·6 months ago@westchestervillage There is one thing in common I see with sellers who come here to post messages like yours: None of you accept returns. This is the common theme, along with normally having an attitude against the buyer, just like you do in your responses to the negative feedback you've left other buyers.
You stated in your post that your sleeves say "DiscSox." In reviewing the image you posted here, along with the images in the listing, I didn't initially see it. I had to back to the listing a second time and zoom in to see if I could find it. It would behoove you to take an actual photo of the brand written on the product.
As to your buyer lying, now that I see the brand name on the product, I'll take you at your word that these are genuine. Unfortunately, sometimes buyers lie. It is my view that sellers who do not accept returns attract the type of buyers who do that. It also sends a message to some buyers that they cannot return anything, so they leave negative feedback instead, just as one of your buyers did. When you do not accept returns, why do you expect the buyer to contact you?
I'm glad you reported the lying buyer and blocked them. I assume you issued them a refund.
