What has happened to eBay??!
Hello to all sellers, I am elderly and had been with eBay since the very beginning. Unfortunately there have been many bad changes with eBay. I purchased a LOT more than I ever sold, a lot. Over a year ago as a seller I was treated unfairly by eBay and completely closed out my account and my 100% feedback. I tried to sell again more recently and this whole experience of selling has been nothing but negative and very stressful. Their App is awful. High fees, remember these items we are selling, we paid for in some way. I have tried to sell jewelry and have had items sent back, jewelry made by Effy, a reputable jewelry manufacturer. The reason was inaccurate description as I failed to mention that all emeralds are treated. Never have I experienced anything like this. I recently sold a doll, sent USPS. I am assuming it never reached its destination. I tried to contact the buyer who never responded. The buyer is now demanding their money, ultimate this item went somewhere as tracking is NOW showing it wasn’t sent. What a mess! I’m out the $300 doll and a $20 Dispute fee. I never got any help from eBay nor did I ever get to talk to anyone. My point here is Sell on EBay at your own risk! Good Luck!

·1 year agoHi @subol12 . Sellers will always lose disputes for non-receipt claims when they do not have tracking that proves delivery to the buyer. Proving you shipped is not enough; you have to prove delivery.
Can you share the tracking number for that transaction? I'd like to take a look and see if I can help.
If the most recent scan says package will not be delivered because of unpaid postage or counterfeit postage, it will wipe out all previous tracking scans. Typically we see this happen when the seller purchases a FedEx Ground Economy label, then erroneously leaves the package with USPS instead of FedEx. Because the seller paid FedEx, not USPS, the post office will seize the package and destroy it.
If that's not what happened here, then it could be a simple lost in transit situation, in which case you can file an insurance claim. Most USPS services include up to $100 coverage for lost packages when you don't purchase anything extra.
You said "recent" so I am assuming this is the doll you sold on May 7 for $300?
So ... let me know the tracking number and maybe we can at least help you recover $100 if this was a lost package situation. If it turns out you bought a FedEx label then at least we can help you with tips on what to do different next time.

·1 year agoI am having the same exact problems. Undelivered items (4 in the last 3 months) are costing me a small fortune. I’m going to have to close my sellers account if the tracking numbers no longer track. For instance why does USPS Ground Advantage have a UPS tracking number? USPS = The United States Postal Service, NOT ups. **bleep**?
ebay simply doesn’t work doe sellers anymore. Not unless you’re selling 10k units of the same Chinese plastic crap.

·1 year agoUSPS labels do not have UPS tracking numbers. If it has a UPS tracking number @damnedcat777 then you purchased a UPS service and were required to ship with UPS. If you drop off at USPS they will seize the package for unpaid postage because you didn't pay USPS, you paid UPS. The two companies have no affiliation.

·1 year agoOdd question, but are you sure that you mailed it? I've had a few instances where an item wasn't scanned by the USPS as picked up but tracking showed up once it hit the destination state. I think I've only had one, in decades of retail, that was delivered without any scans whatsoever.
But, I have also had a case where I could have sworn I put all my boxes out for the day, screamed and hollered that the post office didn't take them, and then found them all neatly packed and ready to go in the office. Point being, my packages went nowhere but it did show that the labels were created. Just a thought.

·1 year agoHi there, in the first place USPS has tracking that should provide information but you may have to go into the local office for resolution. The buyer not responding is not cool, however they are due either the item or refund. I am a buyer not a seller and recently I have this issue. I ordered a power cable for my radio, never came, seller says contact "Uni Uni" ?? Who are they ?? Web says they are shady and possibly a scam. So recently since this does not fall into the "Autopilot" section I can no longer get an agent to resolve a "Weird" issue. Seems Ebay has invested heavily in AI and unless you pass muster with Bot-O-Matic, you are pretty much out of luck. (How much time do I spend kneeling on the carpet, kissing the ring, spinning my wheels for 12 bucks ... seriously ?? BTW Amazon sells that cable for ten bucks more and they deliver it either overnight or next day)
I do IT for a living so I am no stranger to AI and I think the move is a bad one for Ebay. I have never posted here and probably will never again. After 26 years on Ebay with almost no issues whatsoever the recent issues with these foreign sellers and crazy un-heard of shippers I have had enough. I will no longer be using Ebay unless there is some dire need and I'm 200% sure what I'm doing. Sorry to say for many new items Amazon Prime is knocking it out of the park. A friend recommended I give it a whirl, wow ... just wow. Take care all and my best wishes to all of you.

"I am a buyer not a seller and recently I have this issue. I ordered a power cable for my radio, never came, seller says contact "Uni Uni" ??"
When a seller gives you a reply like that one, all you need to do is go to your purchase history, click on More Actions, if a drop down list does not appear click on Return item and a list will appear with I haven't received the item in it. Click on that and follow through to file the dispute which will appear just above the item title in your history.
The seller will have 3 days to prove the item was delivered Tracking showing delivered, or they issue a refund. If they do neither on day 4 you open the dispute, click on Ask ebay to step in. A refund will be issued from the seller's account.
All of the above is spelled out in ebay's Money Back Guarantee (MBG) policy. It works for those who have read it, and in most cases it is all done automatically. There's a link o the MBG policy on every listing just below the accepted payment icons, under the Shop with confidence header.

·1 year agoI know all of that. How about my time?? I'm only on here because .. VIOLA the time frame from this seller has passed and the link to do something about it has finally arrived ... Since MAY !! After 26 years plus Ebay can have a nice day. Case in point .. I see it .. I want it .. Amazon drops it on my door FAST and Alexa tells me they brought it. Rocket science this ain't, and if there is a problem, they respond instantly, give me a label and send me more. I even made a mistake on a gift order on the address once and was able to correct it instantly no sweat. I did that once here, and the seller was awesome but it was a rig a moe roll. Nuff Said.

"Their App is awful".
I would not use ebay's app to sell even if they doubled the money I received from a sale. If you still have a computer, I would use that for selling or sign in the classic way on your portable device.
"I recently sold a doll, sent USPS. I am assuming it never reached its destination... ultimate this item went somewhere as tracking is NOW showing it wasn’t sent".
You haven't had many items that were being shipped at the same time, so you should have been keeping track of items in the USPS system. Sometimes a carrier or clerk will not give an item an acceptance scan, but there should have been some tracking, from other facilities, and had you been keeping track of it you would have noticed there were no updates, and contacted USPS.
FYI, Lately USPS' Ground advantage service has caused a lot of sellers problems. Items have bounced around the country or between facilities for weeks before being delivered, if they ever made it to their destination at all. As others have suggested using Priority Mail to ship your packages would be a much better service to use, considering the prices of the items you've sold.
"I tried to contact the buyer who never responded. The buyer is now demanding their money... What a mess! I’m out the $300 doll and a $20 Dispute fee"
The buyer may have decided not to contact you about the shipping, because of your No Returns policy. Many figure, sellers who have that policy will not help with issues. I you are out of the $300 and the $20 credit card refund fee, the buyer has received a refund, and should not be contacting you about one. What you should be thinking about at this point is trying to find out where your Doll is or filing to get the $100 insurance from USPS.

Or, filing for $300 if she happened to insure the package for the full amount.
mudshark61369
·1 year ago@pickapaper ,
Since the OP shipped expensive items using ground advantage and hasn't mentioned contacting USPS at all, I doubt they insured the package, or they would have at least filed a missing package claim with the USPS by now.

·1 year ago@mudshark61369
I also doubted that OP added additional insurance but just mentioned it anyway.
This whole thing is very sad. OP didn't give us many details to go on and doesn't seem to want to come back and discuss it any further. In her opening post, she feels like she is the victim from the buyers, from eBay, and from the post office, and I don't know if anyone will be able to convince her otherwise.

·1 year agoIt sounds like you have "It's never my responsibility" syndrome. This goes hand-in-hand with "It's eBay's fault-itus," and "the nerve of buyers!" infection.
I don't know how elderly you are. If there are issues which prevent you from understanding things, then maybe you shouldn't be selling (or buying). I say that with all due respect. My mother is 85 and has dementia. I would not want her selling on here. It would be a bad experience for her and her buyers.
What you paid for an item at some arbitrary point in the past has nothing to do with what someone will pay for an item today, nor the fees eBay charges. Given the services they provide, I find eBay's fees reasonable. I make much more here than I would hosting my own yard sale or flipping at the flea market. Selling on eBay is a business and the people who treat it as such will be successful, because they make business decisions not emotional ones.

I'm sorry about your mom, but that is a rather harsh thing to say to a seller.

I know you have had issues but I really wish you would come back and give us more details.
You ended your post with "Sell on EBay at your own risk!" and that is true, but there are also things that you need to be aware of if you are going to sell on eBay (like Item Not Received claims, Item Not as Described claims, eBay's Money Back Guarantee, etc.) to help yourself and know what to do in case a situation does arise. Selling on eBay nowadays is nothing like selling was years ago. It's a whole different ballgame out there now, not only eBay but all across online venues.
Honestly, you came to the right place (here) with your concerns because there are a lot of people on this board who have years of knowledge and experience at selling on eBay. Trying to call customer service is not a good idea as the agents there are third party employees who know little if any of eBay's rules and policies, have no authority to do anything, and will often tell a caller what they want to hear to get them off the phone instead of giving them the facts. You will get much better advice here but you do need to offer more details about your situation.
If you are reading this and do decide not to post here anymore, I wish only the best for you.

·1 year agoGood morning, Jewelry is another issue, regarding shipment of the Doll. When you shipped the purchaser's item was Insurance included and/or signature required on such a large purchase? You obviously had Tracking on this item. Did you physically take this item to the Post Office and have them scan it or did your Carrier pick this item up at your home (per your request) as part of a scheduled service? Did you print your own eBay Label? Keep moving forward on this one, be your own advocate, make a list for yourself and solve your case of where did the package go. Don't give up. Wishing you well.

Did you print your mailing label through eBay or at the post office?
Do you have a post office receipt showing you mailed the doll?
What do you mean when you say tracking is "now showing it wasn't sent"?
When you saw that the package didn't arrive at its destination, did you do a mail search through USPS?
If the mail search didn't find the package, did you file a missing mail claim? (If the post office loses a package, they will reimburse you.)
Did the buyer file an Item Not Received claim? Did you respond to it?
Did you stay in contact with the buyer so they would know what was going on?
The buyer paid $300 for a doll and didn't receive it. Of course, she wants her money back and it sounds like since you didn't give it to her, so she went to her credit card company. Once she did that, eBay cannot help you. (Just for the record, a seller is responsible for a package until the tracking shows delivered. If you cannot provide tracking showing delivery, you are responsible for reimbursing the buyer.)

·1 year agoAny item worth $300 or more should go priority mail insured. All sellers have had problems from the biggest to the smallest. That is the cost of dealing with a company that may have employees that are kids. I've had a lot of problems with bad item specifics such as wanting to state the date and the item specific only goes to the year 1900 like before 1900 nothing existed. Also, many important categories got wiped out that browsers used to find things Makes no sense.

·1 year agoWhether you are comfortable with them or not, Ebay's fees are competitive and have been for years.
Greater adherence to professional standards is required of sellers. Adherence to rules and procedures is necessary, which requires that BEFORE you list you learn what is expected of you.
Selling on Ebay is more complicated than setting up a yard sale, yet some sellers think they can do it without any knowledge, effort or help. Ebay does not provide personalized help services. Sellers must read and learn.
