eBay used to be a fantastic platform but has just gone down hill over the years, it's now more expensive than ever to buy on the site and difficult to sell on it. I closed my own account after 22 years because of the now money gapping nature vs user experience of ebay, you have to fight everything that goes wrong. I then tried to setup an account for my son, what a joke and a waste of two hours of our day. The account was suspended straight away, they say contact us, so we did, great 11 minute call mostly on hold and then cut off. Ring back to be told your account is permanently suspended but we are unable to tell you why.
Won't be using them again, there lose as my bank statements was just ebay, ebay, ebay.

Which is why this community exists cause we tell the OP why. Ebay will not tell the OP why they are suspended or they do but don't understand what the suspension is.

·4 months agoThanks.
How do we know why a OP was suspended when eBay won't even tell that OP? Is it because long time forum members have heard the same story hundreds of times?

·4 months agoTakes investigative work and questions. In a lot of cases such as this OP they are from another country other than the US which rules can differ. Which is why you may read comments having the OP post a thread on the site they are from. When it comes to questions some OPs bail on the thread so nothing really gets accomplished. It varies though.

·4 months agoNothing has happened to eBay that hasn't happened other places too. Nothing is like it was 22 years ago when you started selling. Most of us who have been here for many, many years know you have to adapt and change. If you sit around and whine that "it just isn't the same as it used to be", then of course there are going to be problems.

·4 months agoI agree that eBay was far more vibrant and useful twenty years ago, for both buyers and sellers. I've been here for 28 years and do much less business than I once did. I used to spend $5,000 a month on eBay and had sales of about $20,000 a month. These days I might spend $100 in a month if I can find anything, and often sell nothing; also, why I stopped paying for a store.

There are plenty of good deals, and selling is easy once you learn how things work.
If after 22 years you haven't figured it out yet, closing your account is probably a wise move.
Adios.

Ebay hasn't gone down hill. It's the same as it was before. Yes buying is more expensive cause things have gone up in value and shipping has gone up. That's the cost of doing business. Prices are not the same back 22 years ago on anything compared to today.
"I closed my own account after 22 years because of the now money gapping nature vs user experience of ebay, you have to fight everything that goes wrong."
I am saying this strictly as a buyers point of view. If you have an issue with an item Ebay forces the seller to accept a return for refund on items purchased if something is wrong with it. In business there are things that can go wrong and sellers may or may not agree but you do have to file. I am unsure why you would fight if something goes wrong just file a case.
"I then tried to setup an account for my son, what a joke and a waste of two hours of our day."
Are you setting up an account for your son in the same household or different household? Is your son of legal age to have an account? There might be some kind of confliction which is why Ebay suspended your account.

·4 months ago@bonanza125 Good explanation of a few things, but you failed to address this from the OP:
Ring back to be told your account is permanently suspended but we are unable to tell you why.
How does eBay expect a member to do better if they don't tell them what they did wrong? What kind of business does this? It's like the Judge saying "Screw the trial, let's just hang him anyway".

·4 months agoWas your prior account suspended?, If so they may have suspended your sons due to the last name, Plus I don't really understand how an account can be suspended if they never opened his account, They would only deny opening an account.

Answer:
Nothing.
Your sons account was 'blasted' for a reason.
Nobody here knows why but there is always a 'real' story.
