If you filter active listings for items "eligible for offers" and then click on an individual item how can it be not eligible with "no interested buyer"? How does an item "eligible" become "not eligble"?

·4 months agoAs @bonanza125 explained, there can be multiple reasons why this could happen. In addition to what has been shared, the buyer doesn't meet something you set in your Buyer Requirements, an offer had been previously sent to the buyer on this item, it must be a fixed price listing, etc.

OP4 months agoThank you, but you are not adressing my question.
There is programming that causes an item to pass the first filter for "eligible for promotion" and then programming for when you select an individual item from that list and now suddenly this item is "not eligible for buyers".
Can anyone explain the logic behind this? Why not use the same algorithym for selecting "eligible" items as for "send promotion"? How can an item be eligble for promotion but there are no eligibible buyers?
Maybe just a pitch to participate in Promoted Listings?

OP4 months agoSo there may be one filter at first that groups the items on one set of criteria and then another piece of code that tosses out individual buyer IDs based on seller preferences?

·4 months agoIt means that the potential buyer is not eligible to receive your special offer. They either blocked all special offers or they live in a country which you either do not ship to or Ebay has excluded. It can also mean that you are selling an item which can't be shipped to the buyers location.

OP4 months agoOK I get that making a special offer might be blocked for one reason or another. So how does the filter work for "show eligible offers" work? Why not use the same logic for the filter as for sending the offer? Seems like another example of less than ideal eBay programming.

·4 months agoI'm not sure what you mean. If the watcher isn't eligible to get on offer, why would you want it to show up as you being able to send an offer? What good would that do?
Or are you asking to know the reason why you can't send an offer to a particular buyer? If that is your question, Ebay does not now nor have they ever disclosed personal account info to a seller, which is exactly what it would be if the buyer has their account set not to accept offers.

OP4 months agoI think the answer is that the item might be eligble but the buyer might not be, possibly through some set of seller preferences you have set up.

·4 months agoSo your asking as it pertains to Promoted Listings? I did not know there was such an indicator for sellers regarding if there are eligible buyers. Personally I've only seen this indicating on sending offers.

Correct this is about the buyers eligibility for the item. There really isn't a clear cut answer as to why. There are multiple reasons why as addressed. Honestly I personally never really worried about that.
