What do you think the customer's response will be?
Summary: inhawaii shared an interaction with a buyer who mistakenly ordered the wrong item. Suggestions were made about how to respond more tactfully, emphasizing empathy and offering to exchange the item. oldwestgold commented on how different age groups might handle the situation, with some humor injected into the conversation. The discussion also included light-hearted remarks about the blame game and shared Hawaiian imagery for a fun touch. The issue was resolved when the buyer acknowledged the mistake and reordered the correct item, with inhawaii offering a refund for the return.
Buyer: "You sent me the wrong attachment. This was supposed to be the tapered and not the strait attachment."
Me: "Hello David, Take a look at the order carefully. You selected the straight foot not the angled foot. What can I do to make you happy? Aloha, James"

Buyer: My mistake. I ordered the first one from you on the 12th and meant to order the angled one on the 22nd, but must have accidentally ordered the same. I just ordered the right one.
Me: Thank you David. I'll get it right out to you. If you have no use for the other part simply send it back to me fror a full refund. Aloha and have a great weekend. James

·2 weeks ago · EditedIf David is older, like really old, he will admit he made a mistake (again for the day), apologize, and ask you how to proceed to get the correct one. Not that I am speaking from experience here.
If a younger person(yes, I know I am assuming), David will deny ever making the mistake and blame it on the sun or moon and jump up and down until he gets his way.
For those who will disagree with my above opinions, that's okay. I am speaking from my own life's experiences. And yes, I would fall under the first one.
Your reply was spot-on. I wish you luck.

·2 weeks agoI'm not older or younger, just smack in the middle, and unfortunately for the younger people, I do think your generalizations are accurate most of the time.

·2 weeks agoThe response will probably be defensive., your message blends a polite offer with a direct correction that puts the blame on them.

Hello David, I looked at the order details, and it shows the straight foot was selected during checkout. I want to make sure you get exactly what you need. Would you like to exchange this for the tapered version? Aloha, James
