Well friends...the complaints are starting...Get ready!
Well, just saw the first of many complaints about the Trump sneakers. Here's one of them:
The worst seller on eBay, I placed an order by mistake, I immediately contacted seller to cancel transaction. Seller refused to refund for an item never even physically shipped. Crooked **bleep**, should be in prison, the worst experience ever on eBay.
They received a photo. Spent over a $1000. Misleading title and description. Not happy needless to say. Get ready for more.

It had to do with the shoes, not the person. People (alleged sellers) were pre-selling those shoes 6 months in advance which is against eBay policy. These people weren't going to get their shoes until August. So many scams like other categories here on eBay. People were receiving photos, because the seller manipulated the listing in the title and the description. It was a big mess and August ought to be an interesting month, a very upsetting one for the buyers of these shoes. So many of us here on this forum spent hours reporting these fraudulent listings. Many sellers were removed, some were not. Here's what I'm talking about that may make my post more clear:
Pre-sale Policy:
What is the policy?
Presale listings must guarantee that the item will be shipped within 40 business days of purchase
The date the item will be available to ship must be clearly stated in the listing
Listings must clearly indicate in the title and description that the item is being offered for presale
Handling time details should include the time it will take the seller to acquire the item, in addition to the time it will take the seller to deliver the package to the shipping carrier.
So this was the big issue. Like I stated earlier, it's going to be interesting and disappointing in August for many should they not receive their item.

Now it looks like the bots have stopped taking down these fraudulent listings and the pre order listings. Lots of photos for sale again. Lots more upset customers who don't read. smh.

Hopefully those buyers are simply starting a chargeback with their CC company for NAD. They will most likely prevail and be fully refunded. The seller will still be out the shipping cost and have to still pay the FVF's on the transaction.
On the down side I fear that not enough of those buyers are aware of this and these con artists are getting by with the deception.

It gets better...here's a listing that just reads the shoes for sale. In very small font the seller (new) posted this:
This is just the photos of the shoe, buy at your own risk!
Blatant thievery! It's got to stop! There are also 8 bids on the photo. Yikes!

·2 years agoFrom the product right through to the grift, I have NO sympathy for these buyers. None. And I actually don't think this little kerfuffle will have much impact on eBay.

I mean for what some care pay they prolly' get a 3 oz. tupperware of genuine autographed feces and out of that lot no need for limited run, it just keeps coming. Could have limited editions, "Corn w/ Castro."

I tried reporting two for sale and eBay said nothing was wrong with them being sold on this platform.
So, I guess eBay will like having to take care of of these unhappy buyers....for months.

I get and respect your point, but at the same time I put myself in these buyers shoes. I was scammed about a month ago on my debit card for over $100. Luckily I got it reversed, but I had to get a whole new debit card. I guess my point was as another poster replied to on another thread of the same topic...buyers will leave this platform after the realized they've been scammed. People are spending big bucks for these ugly shoes. It's just a big mess. Sorry I wasn't more clear.

·2 years agoIt may surprise you to know that my answer has nothing to do with Ebay. Our sales on Ebay is not a major concern to me. I know ... I blaspheme.
You should get ready for double-digit inflation, a general degeneration of American society. Civil discourse, riots and looting will be common. No police presence. If you come under attack, you better be able to defend yourself. Don't count on me - I will be busy and I'll want to pick your bones anyway. Anarchy. Faster degeneration of infrastructure; roads, hospitals, educational institutions, and power grids. In a word ... Oakland, CA in a MadMax world.
As to why? You are in the majority who don't even suspect a problem.

·2 years agoSending a photo for $1000 reminds me of a Judge Judy case a few years ago. The defendant (seller) scammed the plaintiff (buyer) by sending just a photo of an item for hundreds of dollars. Then had the nerve to appear in front of Judge Judy and be severely embarrassed on national television. You should have seen and heard the words she gave to the defendant after ruling in favor of the plaintiff for the scam.
The only unfortunate part of the case's outcome is that the plaintiff was paid out of the show's funds, not out of the defendant's pockets, which is probably why the defendant was willing to show up and accept the national embarrassment in the first place.

·2 years agoUnless something has changed.... Here is how these shows work...
Plaintiff and defendant agree to go on the show. Each appearing party (plaintiff/defendant/witnesses) are paid to appear (usually $500). The judge decides the case. Whoever wins, gets the other's appearance money, but anything over that amount, the loser still has to pay. These are arbitration meetings on these shows, and carry the weight of the law with their decisions. So if a plaintiff sues for 1500, the defendant still has to pay 1000.
That's how they did work anyway, several years ago. It may have changed, but "used to be" someone still had to pay, it wasn't the show covering the judgement cost.

It's like I stated earlier...so many people don't read the descriptions, they just see the item and buy & the scammers count on these people who overlook these misleading titles and descriptions. FYI I'm not seeing any more shoes for sale as of yet. eBay has stepped up to the plate...finally.

·2 years agoYeh that's good news, on the other hand the MBG clearly states that all listings must have matching photos, title AND description and any listing where there exists discrepancy between these qualifies for INAD return. Fact is, all a buyer has to do is open a return for reason INAD and the seller is on the hook for it, fool me once with this trick and they would certainly find that out were I the buyer lol
The only thing I feel bad about is these buyers come in uneducated, the articles are there for them to read but nobody ever does. The tools for fund recovery are there, these buyers who feel defrauded must however avail themselves of said tools... Yes it's true, in this world we have to fend for ourselves because nobody will step up to the plate for people who allow others to simply take their hard earned money. It's a hard fact, I am sorry to be blunt but that's how it is on this planet.

My friend, I agree with you. It's a mad world out there. This is just the beginning...eBay better get ready for all the INR's. We as sellers are going to lose a lot of buyers who will not return to eBay to shop either. It takes only one bad experience. That hurts us all. Stay tuned.

Actually, eBay is already prepared for INR's. So long as there is a recorded delivery of "something to somewhere" anyone that files INR will automatically lose.

·2 years agoI have a friend like that. Blames ebay instead of the seller and she has never returned and takes every opportunity to bash ebay. She refuses to shop at my store, which is very bad for my business, because of one transaction.

All ecommerce platforms are struggling with the nonsense, Amazon, Walmart, Marketplace, you name it, if there's a scam that can be perpetrated believe me it is happening. And I do agree it makes for horrible buyer experiences, it is also a reflection on the state of the world today and it is sad.

·2 years agoIt's nothing new - people have been running scams since the Stone Age - this is just another venue to do it. The South Sea Bubble was a great example of that, and people lost millions on it. Too many people have a touching faith in the internet that has never been earned.

This is why I think eBay should get rid of feedback.
Too many defrauded or just unhappy buyers , turn to feedback when the transaction goes sour.
Feedback is easy to find.
The Money Back Guarantee is harder.
And I say this as one who sells and rarely buys here.

Don't read details, don't review sellers' profile, don't look at all photos, and don't ask questions.
I think the buyer can win this. They just have to do a little work.

·2 years agoWell, from my end, I see at least 9 current listings. One of them I reported 3 days ago, but its still up even after eBay sent me this...
What happened:
We looked into your report and removed the content. It may take up to 24 hours for it to reflect on the site. This determination was made by a customer service agent.
We let the content uploader know about this decision and the action taken. They may have the option to fix the content to make it visible again on site. They can also appeal our decision, and we'll review the case again and may reverse the original decision and action taken.

Yes, we've seen a few of those where eBay is stating it's ok and they see no problem. Then the listing gets shut down only to be relisted. The one's that really need to be addressed are the photos, the posters, the raffle tickets and the sellers that claim that all the funds received for these shoes are going to the presidential campaign. All violations... yet nothing is being done. I alerted the community managers a few days ago and NONE have replied. Disappointed.
