Welcome, October! Q4 Begins Today!
Yesterday we said "Goodbye" to the first three quarters of the year, and we now enter Q4, for many retailers (and some ebay sellers) the busiest time of the year.
If I'm not mistaken, ebay itself has usually had a decent Q4 bump, but historically it has not been as big as most retailers. Since the new CEO took over, ebay has refused to run any actual sitewide type Holiday Marketing campaign, and has instead remained committed to its policy of marketing only the focus categories. There was nothing at eBay Open to suggest this year is likely to be any different. However, it IS possible that ebay now considers pre-owned apparel a Focus Category (not just Luxury and Street Wear clothing), and so we might see some marketing for "pre-loved clothing" generally.
The new ebay store shipping discount is available as of today. And if you use free USPS supplies and haven't already stocked up, this is a good time to do it.
If prior history is any indicator, we can expect a Fall Seller Update soon, maybe this week, maybe next. But there is no way to know for sure.
While Holiday stuff sells year round, if you have Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas stuff not yet listed, it's obviously a good idea to get it up ASAP. And think broadly about this...Christmas isn't just gifts, it's also decor, home entertaining, etc.
Some might want to review their policies, especially returns and shipping.
Best of luck to us all.

·2 years agoMy sales are consistent year-round. People use silverware almost every day. I appreciate the first day of any quarter because I get the free shipping supplies ordered. They have a new offering with frosted zip lock bags. The listing claims they're for clothing but I'm sure it will make the presentation upscale for anything that fits.

In my recollection, there has not been anything profound announced in a Seller Update since they added penalties for bad Seller Metrics. When was that, 3 years ago? 5 years ago? That was the last big uproar.
Have not seen anything much to speak of since then.
The only other thing that comes to mind were the seller protections for chargeback cases that involved "transaction not recognized" and "Item Not Received" chargebacks when tracking shows as delivered.
I am not complaining, because no news and no changes are not bad thing in a lot of cases.
