Warning!!! Ebay will steal your money if you sell an expensive electronic item.
I sold an expensive aircraft radio on Ebay. It retails for about $9,500. It was used but in near perfect condition. When the buyer received it, he took it apart, removed several expensive internal components and then filed a return with Ebay to send back the radio to me. When I got the radio back, most of the screws were missing, and the case was severely scratched up. The only case screws that remained were stripped so badly. that I can not remove them. I filed an appeal with Ebay and within 20 minutes, they sent me an email saying that my claim was denied and they would be charging my bank account for the sales price of the item. They didn't even care that the buyer stole parts from the radio, ruined it and then sent it back for a refund. I am now out several thousand dollars. I always wondered why when people that sell electronics on Ebay say that it is being sold as parts only in non working condition. Now I know after Ebay and a buyer stole money from me. An Ebay representative told me that they will always rule in favor of any buyer in a dispute. It is part of their policy. If you ever sell any electronics, make sure that you put a disclaimer that it is being sold as parts only and has not been tested and there is no guarantee that it is in working condition. If the buyer decides to steal your expensive parts, you have no recourse

OP3 years agoEbay said it would not consider the matter any further, even though it should not be covered under the money back guarantee policy because it is a commercial item more than 10 years old. They didn't even consider any evidence including before and after photographs that I provided. I was sent canned responses that had been sent to many others I am sure. I now have an expensive paperweight that was gutted by an unscrupulous buyer and I am out $3,000.

·3 years agoSo far Ebay is doing me the same way.. I sold an amplifier on Ebay, and I called Ebay to ask them if I should send the amplifier because they had canceled me from selling on Ebay.. And the representative told me to send the amplifier.. When I sent the amplifier, the buyer cancelled payment on the amplifier, and will not send the amplifier back.. I contacted Ebay, and they said that their hands are tied because the buyer stopped payment at their bank, but! When I had a dispute with a customer.. Ebay went into my back account and withdrew the funds and gave them to the buyer.. Ebay have been holding 1000.00 dollars of my money for over three months, and will not release the funds as they draw interest on my money, and will still make me pay for selling on Ebay.. I've tried to close my account, but they will not let me.. This is a principal issue now, so I must get and attorney for a thousand dollars, and sue for discrimination.. They stopped me from selling amplifiers, but they allow the same amplifiers to be sold every single day

·3 years agoAs a seller you cannot prove what you shipped. As a buyer you cannot prove what you received. It is a win for the crook and a no-win for the honest person. So sad that you got ripped off. As already stated, if you cannot afford to give it away, better not list it and sell it on eBay. And after this huge loss you still have items for sale listed in the 1000's of dollars, not to be rude, but REALLY?? Best of luck in the future.

·3 years agoThey will try to steal your money even if you dont have a return filed. A really good friend of mine sold a bunch of GPUs and it took 3 months and a court case filing to force them to pay out just under $10k. They were claiming over and over that he didnt submit proof of ORIGINAL purchase (which he sent them twice).

·3 years agoIt is a sad commentary when every reply here admits eBay does NOTHING about buyers who are frauds and literally commit crimes with eBay's help if not participation. Why should we accept that eBay makes it easy for thieves to prey on sellers, experienced or not? There was a time when eBay had seller's backs. Why is that impossible now? Why isn't it immoral to allow thievery?
