USPS seasonal adjustment
Summary: The discussion revolves around the USPS implementing seasonal price adjustments for its retail and commercial services to align with competitive practices and help achieve a financially sustainable operation. thetimetunnel outlines specific increases across different weight categories and zones. mam98031 provides a link to track these increases, noting that temporary adjustments often become permanent. shado-x critiques the pricing as not competitive, citing the rise in shipping costs, while warrenshobbies counters by stating USPS still delivers for major companies. Some participants express concern over rising shipping costs, with lawnmowerpartsstore2 commenting that they are getting out of control.
This seasonal adjustment will bring prices for the Postal Service’s retail and commercial customers in line with competitive practices.
As a part of the Postal Service’s transformation plan, these temporary changes will support the organization in achieving our public service mission — providing a nationwide, integrated network for the delivery of mail and packages at least six days a week — in a cost-effective and financially sustainable manner over the long term, just as the U.S. Congress has intended.

·4 days ago · EditedI think USPS parcel price increases just push people to use UPS more. I know I primarily use UPS Ground these days. I'd include FedEx as a USPS competitor, but we all know that FedEx usually bites you in the end.

·1 month ago · EditedThis seasonal adjustment will bring prices for the Postal Service’s retail and commercial customers [to not be] in line with competitive practices.
If it were competitive, the prices would go down pursuant to The Law of Diminishing Return. Amazon[ian] now has their own shipping service because of this, they dumped the USPS entirely. My $10 item that I bought for a buck costs $12 to ship now, so I will ship 4 ten dollar items for $8.00. We won't work for the Post Office.

·4 days agoThat's right, so the rates should be much lower due to volume and margin.
