·1 year agoI believe the OP has "Immediate Payment" set up and that is why his buyers are mad. Anyone know how to change this on the phone app? I don't use the app so can't help.

·1 year agoI believe you're right, but wastingtime101 offered at least a 'starting' answer right away yesterday (message #3) and also asked the OP for more clarity of their question ..... but they don't appear to be following up with this thread they started. It's a very frustrating thing that I wish was 'rare' here, but unfortunately it's not.

·1 year ago@susanb1872 "Immediate Payment Required" is not a factor here because the original poster does not have fixed price listings. All of their listings are auction format.
Therefore, the response I posted early yesterday providing a link to change their buyer requirement settings should solve the problem with a quick click or two.
If @roeric31 needs more help they can come back to ask.

·1 year agoI think a lot of people get IPR and autopay mixed up, or know the difference but accidentally write one when they mean the other, kind of like 'buyer' vs 'seller,' ha. Heck when I read Susan's reply I actually PICTURED the autopay preference screen, not the IPR checkbox on the listing creation page, even though she said IPR.

·1 year agoYou have a 1568 feed back rating and this has become an issue now?
Cell phones are good for 3 things.
Phone calls, Searches and text.
For me, A home PC is for everything else and makes life so much easier.
Looking at a small screen and trying to accomplish large tasks while paying attention to detail gets real old fast.
Seems everyone thinks using their phones for large tasks is the way to go but, you are more likely not to focus on details and most likely performing tasks on the run.
Long live the PC !!!!!

·1 year agoThe OP said they "can't" access a computer, not that they don't want to. PC's may live long, but they all die at some point.

·1 year agoFederal funding has made sure every American can access a computer at their local public library.
gurlcat
·1 year agoYeah have you ever tried to use one? There's a waiting list usually. 30-60 minute limit usually. And who knows how far the OP lives from a library or if they have transportation. They literally said they have various reasons why they can't use a computer.

·1 year agoYou are correct girlcat. All things come to an end, just like the rotary dial telephone or push button phones or landline phones all together. I'll ride this PC wave for as long as possible.

·1 year agoAs well as the typo Error I created with your handle. haha.

·1 year agoOh I didn't mean that full-size computers are going to die out as a whole; I don't think that will ever happen. I just meant each individual computer eventually dies, which could be why the OP said they couldn't access one, because theirs "died." It's a scenario that's all too easy for me to picture, because I am on a 2010 Macbook, using the Firefox browser only because this computer is too old to update to an IOS modern enough to run Chrome. I'm pretty sure the screen isn't as bright as it used to be either. Its days are numbered for sure.

·1 year agoI have x86/64 Intel and ARM based machines because I compile software for all these architectures
Will laptop use die soon? I don't think so
Will smartphone use escalate , the answer is yes.
The consumer base expects more and more of smartphones every year

·1 year agoSo there's a way to access these Community forums on the app? I've tried and never could find it.
chevymontecarlo88
·1 year agoYes, there is a way on the app, or you can use a browser on their phone to access the community.
I don't think the OP is asking about that.
gurlcat
·1 year agoWhere?
wastingtime101
·1 year agoIf you go to your My eBay page on the app and scroll down to Help it will pull up eBay's help portal on the app and at the bottom you can get help from Community - it'll pull you into a post-creation page on the Ask A Mentor forum.
But ... it's super inconvenient to try and use Community on the app. You're much better off going direct to Community through your phone's web browser.

·1 year agoThank you so much! Someone also pm'd me a visual on how to get there. And they also said they prefer to use the browser, but now that I'm looking at the app version, it seems very user-friendly to me! I wonder if they improved it since the last time you messed with it. Like you said, initially it lands on a post creation page for Ask A Mentor, but all you have to do is click the 3-bar menu on the top/left of the screen, and from there you can access all the forums to read/reply/post new topics to, and it looks exactly the same as on a browser but size-formatted perfectly for easy reading on a tiny screen. I haven't checked it on a browser but I would assume you have to do lots of pinching in and out, right?

Anyway thanks for the answer! I totally prefer using my computer for obvious reasons, but there are a few scenarios where I'm glad the app exists, even if inferior: Doctor's office waiting room, when my computer is in the shop, when the power/internet goes down, which happens A LOT where I live.
wastingtime101
·1 year agoYou're missing the key point @gurlcat which is you click the X to exit back out into the app to say, check a feature, and if you want to go back to Community you have to go through the same navigation path to reopen it. It's a lot of taps.
Vs if you use a browser on your phone, you can use a saved bookmark and get there with 1 click. The mobile web view & navigation on browser is exactly the same as what you're seeing on the app.
gurlcat
·1 year agoI see what you mean. The app version does have the 'back and forward' arrows at the bottom of the screen, but no way to go immediately to anywhere else, and no 'notifications, mail, profile' icons on the upper right.

Thanks again!

·1 year agoYour local Public Library is a good option if you need to use a computer. Many spend more resources on computers than books these days.

·1 year agoThere's a lot of stuff that's (unfortunately) more difficult these days if you don't have access to a computer.

·1 year agoVery true. I prefer a combination of both. Phone for pictures/editing/uploading and publishing finished drafts and Computer for descriptions, titles, research etc.
Although these days some phones can be the size of a small laptop computer.

·1 year agoI don't know how they run a business using the app on a phone.
I've got the app, but only use it to receive notifications, no way would I try listing an item using it

·1 year agoWhat does not having access to a computer have to do with automatic payment?

·1 year agoI'm guessing that some settings cannot be accessed or changed through the mobile app.
I know the web browser on my smartphone (Samsung Z Flip3) can show and use the desktop/laptop mode of the eBay site, but some links from there will jump into the mobile app instead, which is not helpful.
wastingtime101
·1 year agoIf eBay browser links are opening in the app automatically @a_c_green , iOS users can to tap and hold a link and select "don't open in the app" to prevent that from happening. Android users need to go to the device Settings> Apps> eBay> Open by default> Open supported links and select "don't open in the app."
wastingtime101
·1 year agoYou can open eBay on a web browser on your phone if you can't find settings you need on the app.
Are you looking for the setting that requires buyers provide a payment method before bidding on an auction? You can turn that off here, but I don't know if it will kick in for listings that already have bids.
