UPS insurance claim denied since buyer refused to have item inspected.
I sold an item back in November for close to $2,000 and had the ups store package it/ship it. When it was delivered the buyer stated it was damaged and requested a refund (He did provide photos). I filed an insurance claim with UPS and issued him a full refund. I was told to have the buyer hold on to the item and the packaging it came in so it can be inspected. The claim was denied due to the buyer refusing to show it to the UPS agent, saying that he already threw it out.
He is now messaging me saying that he found the item and asking that I file another insurance claim or he can just ship it back to me. When I talked to the local UPS Store, they said they would look into reinstating the case if he provides updated photos of the item. He is now not responding to this request.
I have contacted both PayPal and eBay regarding this, and neither one could do anything to solve the issue. They both instructed me to file a complaint with my bank to recoup the money that was already paid to the buyer.
I fell like I am being scammed by this buyer and honestly don’t know how to go about fixing this nightmare.
Thanks for any guidance.

I hate to tell ya this, but a $2000 claim isn't getting paid.

·1 year agoIt was a long time ago when I last had a UPS damage claim, when I did UPS picked the item up from the buyer.
Since this case is complicated by Ebay and PayPal, I would have sent the buyer a pre-paid label and if the item returned, would have refunded and then lost the claim because the item was reshipped.
It would still be more attractive than letting the buyer keep keep a $2,000 item.
But it is likely that UPS would have found the packaging inadequate when it inspected, even though it was packed by the UPS store. And another front would be opened for the Package Wars.

·1 year agoThe buyer claimed the item was damaged when it was delivered. I asked for pictures, but the buyer is not responding. I opened a damage claim with UPS, and the buyer refused the give the monitor to the UPS driver. eBay closed this claim in the buyer's favor, claiming the buyer "The buyer claimed that the item didn't match the description," that is FALSE! The buyer opened a "damaged item" claim. Why isn't eBay helping sellers? You are helping this buyer steal $541.68 from me! The buyer still has the monitor and refuses to give it to UPS for the insurance investigation. They refuse to send the item back to me for the return request; eBay is assisting in a theft. Why isn't eBay giving me my seller Protections?

·1 year agoAre you the op? You said in the previous post in Dec that the buyer requested a return label, did you send it?Cant imagine getting any recompensation ten months later. You are not speaking to Ebay here, just other members.
