UPS Fraudulent Chargebacks
It has happened twice recently.
Again this morning. UPS tells me my box was 40 lbs and 3 inches longer, thereby attempting to justify an additional $8 after the fact increase.
Problem is, I have objective proof that it was a shorter, 29 lb box.
What else could this be but blatant fraud? This is not negligence.
I will no longer be using UPS through ebay.
Secondly, has anyone experienced this? If widespread, this has the potential for a class action suit.

·3 months agoI assume ur round up to next whole inch for dimensions vs. trying to shave it down & smaller?
If the package meets certain dimensional size, it defaults into a fixed weight & charge. This has been the true cause of many surcharges. I ran into it with Fed Ex recently, even though it was 26 lbs it went to 40 & was charged for 40. The delivered weight was 26. You can't win this adjustment.

·3 months agoSame here , over the past year UPS chargebacks added up to about 200.00 , Last week UPS charge backed a package that measured 25 x 4 x 4 - 2 lbs , UPS said packaged was 28 x 14 x 12 - 2 lbs... really ! 19.63 was the extra charge , The item sold for 15.00 - so I lost money ! gave item way ... I'm done with UPS ... I tried calling UPS and they wanted my account number and invoice number ? what ? I explained labels were generated through ebay I I did not have that information ,, They said I could do nothing without that info ... I'm done - I really think UPS does not want ebay business ,,, I have been selling here 25 years no issues with shipping until this past year .. what has happen to UPS and ebay ?

·11 months agoThe Same thing happened to me some time ago, it wasn't about the weight, it was about the size. I always use the same size poly mailer, so I know it wasn't my fault. I think it's with the meter or machine they use when measuring or weighing the item. I did file a claim right away and did receive a refund from USPS, so I am thinking they had problems in that same area, for me to get a refund that quick. A lot of the sorting is not done manually, so these mistakes will happen - no intentionally.

·11 months agoUPS, and USPS are 2 different animals.
USPS seems to be open to correcting APV errors.
Poly mailer, as I understand it, will result in a UPS "surcharge".

·11 months agoI don't know your experience with UPS shipping, but the 40 pounds is the "billable weight" ...
"Billable Weight" = greater of (1) scale weight and (2) dimensional weight ... dimensional weight = HxWxL/166, rounding up.
More info: https://ir.ebaystatic.com/cr/v/c01/shipping/DIM_Weight_Guide_08182025.pdf
As for the 3" dimension difference, there are rare times when UPS scanners make a mistake, and sometimes shippers measure incorrectly. Since we don't have the package to examine, it is hard to make a call.

·11 months agoI keep getting "address corrections" through UPS. I have never gotten these and we sell hundreds of items per month. Every single one is $5.25 and they are coming every week. Has anyone ever successfully disputed these?
