Uploaded on time but no carrier scan
I got 3 of these in June to July, I bought insurance on all 3 with USPS and posted the tracking numbers. Why should I get a negative item as this was totally the fault of the Post Office for not scanning it? It seems like a silly thing to record.

·Sep 7, 2026 at 11:05 PMYou have the power to ensure there is a scan, but chose not to use that power.
Buyers were tired of sellers printing labels and then waiting days to actually deliver them to the post office. Blame your fellow sellers for this policy, not eBay.

·1 month agoIt was 100% YOUR fault for NOT standing in line and making sure your package was scanned as received- at the counter.
Nobody to blame but yourself

OP1 month agoI DID stand in line at the counter. that's how I got the receipt.

·1 month agoA carrier scan shows that the package is checked in with the shipper.
This enables ebay to be certain that the item has entered into the shipper's system and is on its way to the buyer.
To be 100% sure that a carrier scan is received for all your shipped items, we suggest that you wait in line at the shipping counter (USPS, UPS, Fed-Ex, etc.) to get your items scanned and get a receipt.
This is the only way to avoid all missed carrier scans - and avoid taking negative hits to your metrics because of them.
Hope this helps.

·1 month agoYou"re welcome, thank you for the reply as well.
Did you enter the tracking numbers into ebay after you purchased the labels?
If you buy the postage at the counter, you then have to enter the tracking numbers into ebay next to each item that was shipped.
There is a place to enter the tracking numbers on the order page dropdown that says "Add tracking number."
The tracking numbers you enter will show ebay that the items were shipped and are in the possession of the shipper. This will make sure you avoid missed carrier scans.

OP1 month agoyesway.
I bring the package to my small local PO with stamps on it. They know I';; be right and hand stamp them for me. When I get home I manually enter the tracking # in the field you mentioned. So I think I'm doing it right, and in order for me to get the receipt it has to be entered in USPS computers. When I get home I can see it says "arrived at PO" or some such.

·Sep 7, 2026 at 6:38 PM · EditedThat sounds like everything is correct.
The carrier scan has to meet ebay's time frame in order to avoid a hit.
Ebay would probably need "USPS in possession of item" in the tracking to fulfill the carrier scan requirement.
Another reason for defects could be that the tracking numbers were not entered within the time frame required by ebay.
Have you already considered this possibility?

OPSep 7, 2026 at 8:48 PMYESWAY you may be correct. All 3 say
Tracking number provided
But I do always enter the # as soon as I get home from the PO. So it wasn't late. I gues I can't spend any more time on this. Thx for your thoughts
