Unpaid Item Strike Removal? Possible?
I'm the buyer in this case but I think it's better asked of sellers.
Long story short, I had multiple items racked up with a seller. Seller & I had already communicated, no issues with multi-day bidding, no concerns over payment within 4 days. Seller was getting ready to send me an invoice today. Seller had no clue that they had "Auto-Cancel" set up for non-payment after 4 days. I now have 2 unpaid items and I assume 2 strikes. Completely unearned by me and unintentional by seller as this was an issue of an auto-setting the seller wasn't even aware of.
I'm guessing there is no chance a buyer can go to EBay to get a UPI strike removed, can a seller go to EBay and get the UPI strike removed as it was in essence "given" by them as it was their function that caused it? Is this something that would have to be handled by EBay's social media team?
I have a secondary buying account but never followed through with the full transition to it
.., so I'm not completely S.O.L. and of course I can communicate with sellers to be put on exemption list If I'm blocked by 2 UPI... I prefer at this point to not have to move my buying to the other account in full because of credit card rewards program limitations...
Any advice?

·2 years agoI have run into the problem and found out i have unpaid items.
I made a call to support and at first i was told i have no unpaid items then after several times of being put on hold eBay once again proved to me it a waste of my time to call them.
First off I would never do this intentionally never. That being said how can i get it erased when I have no clue what when or where this happened. in the last 60 days I have purchased 65 times. this is probably my average.
I don't really believe that this is a helpful tool (unpaid strike) for a seller. If someone decides they don't want my item why would I want them pressured to purchase.
I had a sale a few months back and the person contacted me several times that he was having problems paying for the Item. Finally after weeks I did not here from him any more and I just reenlisted the item.
Thanks I need to vent from time to time

OP2 years agoJust to add, although honestly unnecessary...
I used to be a lot more conscious of the 4 day auto cancel possibility, but I've bought from so many sellers where I bid for the entire week or at least M-F and wait for an invoice. Some days bidding goes for 5 days or I go M-F and they invoice me on Monday. I used to specifically ask if they had auto cancel set up, none of these sellers did, so I became more complacent and just asked if they were ok with me bidding M-F. I have always just preferred 1wk bidding if the seller runs auctions all week. Nicer to just break purchases up 1wk at a time instead of jumbling multiple orders per week. I did have a seller who I would place 2 orders per week from but thats because they were usually multi box orders to begin with and made it easier on them.
Personally, auto cancel in my eyes is a horrible policy IF you charge shipping and you rely on invoicing buyers. HIGH volume commercial sellers who likely have free shipping or auto-combined shipping, those sellers make sense to have auto-cancel. If you are a smaller seller and charge shipping and invoice buyers, you shouldnt have autocancel. It takes 1-2 clicks to cancel and I can't imagine it happens that often. You just risk screwing your buyers if you don't invoice them fast enough or forget about the auto cancel setting. I have sellers who take 2-3 DAYS to invoice me after I send the request because they're just slow (lazy). [<---- someone I work with extremely regularly and have for a while, horrible communicator and lazy as can be, but love their auctions/items]

OP2 years agoUpdate: Got the case successfully appealed, didn't realize how easy of a process that was. They limited/restricted me but thank god it only actually affected 1 auction... thank god it wasn't a crazy auction night for me. They had me blocked from bidding due to the (2) UPIs.
Thank god more sellers don't have the auto-cancel set. I sometimes rack up a dozen items over the latter part of the week, and the clock is set to run out on the first items over the weekend, and seller works M-F so can't get an invoice til Monday AM.
Too many times I would've been screwed by auto-cancel feature, been lucky up until now.

Omg you are a life-saver.
I didn't even think to check this on the help pages... god I feel dumb.
I've 100% never worried about UPIs so I never studied up on them, now I see EBay is logical & reasonable. Thank God â¤ï¸â¤ï¸. I freaked, I can't afford to have any sort of buying restrictions, I'm trying to expand my buying (sourcing) can't afford to have something holding me back.
