Unbelievable. Be careful on the Ebay My Account Page
I already made a post about the technical issue. But, needed to tell this story and advise you to be careful. I was on MY Account page of Ebay to ask about my Seller Hub display. At the top of the page is a box for help. I clicked on it and asked the question. It said it was a $1.00 charge (which I thought odd), but it would be refunded to me. I had no idea I wasn't asking an Ebay agent. The agent told me to use the ctrl key and 0 (zero), I did. It fixed it. My card was charged $56. Nothing told me about this charge. Come to find out it must be an ad that Ebay is dispalying on the help page. I had no idea. I disputed the charge with my bank. Look at your My Account page on Ebay. It is very confusing.

·1 year agoKeep a look out for the little blue X and arrow on the top right corner that's in the screenshot of the ad, one or both of those icons typically are on an ad, and for any other website addresses that'll take you off of the site you're viewing, they'll never refer you elsewhere for direct help. Though if you contact eBay through social media, they'll help there. eBay also would never charge you for them to help you like that.
Another thing that may tip you off to something not being right is if the way something is written seems odd. Like "A Professional Will Help You in Minutes. Chat Now." eBay doesn't write sentences in all caps, or word anything like that. I hope this will help you know what to look out for in the future to prevent something like this from happening again, such an awful thing to deal with from terrible people.

·1 year agoAll caps and a timer running down, anytime any ad or offer from just about any source makes me suspicious.
Always looks like a scam to me. Trying to start that panick mode in the brain that says "I better hurry or I'll miss out". Psycology used to scam people..............

OP1 year agoTHIS IS IT. It was on the Ebay Help page on My Account. I didn't know it was an ad for another service. I also wasn't told it would be $56. It said $1 and that it would be refunded. I thought it was an Ebay verification step.

Yes, it's at the bottom right on my page also.
It's the only thing I could find (though I never clicked it) that seems similar to what the OP refers.

OP1 year agoNo. I went on my Seller Hub. Under my name at top, it says account settings. I went there to see if I had something changed. It appears to be an ad that rotates at the top of that page. It never occurred to me it wasn't Ebay help.

·1 year agoSomehow they got your CC info. You would not think eBay would give it to them. You might want to run a virus scan on your computer. You might also want to call your card company and let them know what happened.

OP1 year agoI gave it to them when they asked. i thought it was an Ebay verification. i didn't know it was another company selling something.
