unauthorized coupon
So, yesterday I had a sale with a buy 1 get one 50% off coupon. The problem is I didn't authorize it. I have no active coupons in this category and made sure to go through my marketing section to confirm. Has anyone else had an issue unauthorized coupons? These were expensive and I don't appreciate being forced to do that without my consent or knowledge. This absolutely was not done by me and I had several sales in that category, on the same day with no coupons used. I also don't send out individual coupons to customers. I only do general sales. When I searched further on review sites, there have been quite a few complaints about this happening. Interested if any other sellers have experienced this. It's the first time it has ever happened to me. Is there a small print, I'm missing, that says ebay can do this? Thanks in advance.

Posting the item # would be helpful. That is if you want actual help from the very qualified posters on this thread, none of which are Ebay employees. Most of these posters know more about Ebay than the Ebay reps you would be dealing with in a chat or phone call. The reps job is to get you off the chat or phone as soon a possible.
So can you please post the item number you had the problem with?

·1 year agoYup, it's just as we told @beautyandthebeads . It's user (aka seller) error in that the seller is the one who authorized the coupon discount.
Instead of quizzing me about my (potential?) status as an ebay employee, dad the OP posted the item number of the listing in question and if the OP were correct in proving the discount was unauthorized, we wouldn't have seen the "Buy 1, get 1 50% off with coupon" statement on the listing. The existence of that coupon discount shows that it was the SELLER who authorized it.

·1 year agoSeemingly, people have much invested in being right.
AND, I’m seeing an uptick at people just flat out wrong about things like sales and coupons. Easily verifiable stuff. We saw it when MP came to eBay. Lots of people coming to complain about sales droughts that weren’t real, “glitches†that were all user error. Experienced sellers that know how to check if “I’ve never had two days straight without a sale,†etc..

Please post the item number of the item that you claim shouldn't have had a coupon discount.

OP1 year agoSorry, who are you? Do you work for ebay and can help me with this? I've tried contacting them and have not heard back. If you are an employee, who can help, please let me know. Thanks.

·1 year agoNo one who posts here is an employee. Employees don't read or post on the boards except in rare instances.
We're buyers and sellers just like you and we're willing to offer assistance to strangers to whom we owe nothing.
If you don't want help, I'll not respond to your posts.
Seeing the listing and how it was posted will help see that it's (probably) user error.
You're welcome.

·1 year agoIt isn't too hard to find the items that had the coupon applied - the Lisa Frank Bear Sticker and Lisa Frank Dog Sticker. Both in the same sticker category that has the promotion running through late July. Mystery solved 🙂 I suspect that you knew that.
We've gone from you not having any promotions active, to, yes, promotions active, but not in the category with sales, to, yes, promotion active, and the items that got the discount were in the category with the active promotion. Voila! Happy to be of service.

OP1 year agoThat is for my sticker category only. The items, I mentioned, were from a completely different category. As I said, I had several purchases from the same category, with multiple items purchased, and no coupons used. I even went through each individual item, in the category, to see if there was a coupon posted on them. There wasn't. I was very careful to go through everything and there was nothing. This was definitely random and unauthorized.

·1 year agoAre you sure? It looks like you sold a bunch of stickers yesterday. One item in another category – certainly not multiple items in different categories other than stickers. Honestly, this kind of post has come up a lot of times. Each and every time it is something that the seller did and forgot about.

OP1 year agoI guarantee it wasn't. I checked through everything because I thought maybe I did make a mistake, but there is nothing. I would prefer it be something I did actually then think random coupons are being sent. Thanks for checking out all my sales btw lol. I can give you tips if you'd like.

OP1 year agoI did. I went through everything. I have one sale in one category only going on. These items were not erroneously listed in the sale category either because I thought that might be the case. Definitely random and unauthorized.

This looks like a discount that you set up. See the photo. No way eBay just made up this name and applied it to your items. Does it look familiar?
