Ummm. . . Friends, relatives who have items they want you to sell for them. . . you know the ones.
Okay. I love these guys. Truly, I do. I don't want to hurt feelings. But, there's always someone who has items they want me to sell for them. A friend who inherited his mother's stuff. A friend who has a collection of Longaberger baskets in her basement. A stranger who wants you to teach them how to sell on Ebay. Relatives with furniture, etc.
It's hard to explain to them. This is a business for me. I'm retired, supplementing my retirement, SS. I work hard at this. It is work. Time consuming. While they're all sitting around watching TV, I'm on my computer or cleaning items or listing or answering questions or packing, etc. You know the drill.
I have plenty of items of my own I need to get listed.
When I have sold something for a friend I don't think they understand the deal. Just because it sold for $25 doesn't mean you get $25. They have no idea about fees, shipping issues, packing effort, returns, taxes on income, etc.
Am I the only one who hates to hear someone say, "Do you think you could sell . . . for me? It's in great shape. i hear they go for lots of money?"

·3 years agoI just say, “I’m not set up to do it that way. My business model only includes sourcing my inventory in specific ways BUT they are eBay sellers who DO like to sell for other people†I then send them a link with info on the “EBay trading assistantsâ€....That answer seems to do the trick. I’m truly astonished that literally every (not some not most but EVERY) person who finds out what I do, immediately pops the “sell for me†question....it’s so consistent it’s becoming comical....
