Trying to refund a buyer
A buyer asked to return a purchase (I accept returns), and she mailed the item back. When I went on eBay to issue her a return, It appeared that the buyer was supposed to open a request for return, so I asked the buyer if she had done that. She replied that she had just done it, but eBay wanted her to buy a return label, so she cancelled the return request. Now she wants me to send her a check. When I went on eBay to try and refund the money there, it said the return request was cancelled, and I can’t figure out how to issue a refund through eBay. Also, do I need to refund the taxes?

OP8 months agoThank you both for responding. If I go to My Ebay, Selling, Orders, then Order Details, it says “Return is Closed.†There is no option to refund that I can see. After selecting the 3 dots, it says “Help and Report.†I’m doing something g wrong but am not sure what. Thanks for trying to help me.

·8 months agoGo to your Orders - Paid and Shipped in the Seller Hub.
There are three vertical dots to the right of the view order details button. That is a drop down menu. Click the selection for send refund.

·8 months agoYou can simply choose the Send Refund option from the Order Details page, and send a refund for the item price. You can't refund the taxes but they are typically refunded by eBay during that process. You'll see a reduced amount that you are actually refunding them because eBay will subtract from that the amount they are crediting you back in fees, as well.
