Top rated seller plus but doesn't offer returns?
Hi! Is there anybody who can explain this to me; I recently found a seller who's got the top rated plus seal on their listings and so forth, but they all state that the seller doesn't accept returns. I was under the impression that you must offer 30 days minimum free returns in order to have that benefit, but I guess I've missed some part of it? If anybody is able to explain this to me I'd be more than grateful!! Thanks!

·3 years agoWould you please share a screen shot of the top of the listing in question. Block out their ID if you want to, but we just can't see that TR-Plus badge.

·3 years agoMy best guess before seeing the listing is the seller is in the US and their listing qualifies for TRS+ status domestically, but since you're located overseas you're seeing a no returns policy. In other words, seller offers free returns to US customers but no international returns.
Check your PMs though - we'll see if we can verify this.

·3 years agoOK, so the seller is located in Lithuania and I am not seeing the TRS badge on the listing.
If @glinters is seeing the TRS badge then I'm still guessing that it's somehow tied to both of them being located overseas.

·3 years agoDoes it show up if you pretend you're in Lithuania? Lithuania and Sweden are both in the EU. We have been referencing the rules that apply to US sellers. eBay might have an entirely different set of criteria for showing the TR-Plus badge over there. For instance, in the UK there's no TR-Plus, but there's a "Premium service" badge which doesn't require free returns.

·3 years agoEarlier I changed my location to Sweden on the shipping tab, matching the OP. Listing didn't display badge.
I checked just now and seller does not ship to Lithuania.

OP3 years agoCan I post their store or listing here or is it against the rules? I'd gladly do it to just to get some answers but we're basically 'competitors' and I don't want to come across as being petty, I'm genuinely just interested in how they get the badge

·3 years agoDon't know what you're angling on, but, per eBay's Money Back Guarantee, if a buyer opens an item not as described case, the seller has to allow him to return the item for a full refund.

Exceptions are mentioned here:
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/seller-levels-performance-standards/seller-levels-performance-standards?id=4080#section3
Perhaps the listings you are referring to are within the stated exceptions?

·3 years agoThose exceptions don't apply here. As that linked page states at the top of the list of category exemptions: "In some product categories, we'll extend the discount benefit (but not the seal) even if you don't offer 30-day free returns". Even in those categories, 30-day free returns are required for the TR-Plus seal.
Well, now we all need to know what listing this is! Or at least some BIG hint so we can look it up.

·3 years ago@nobody*s_perfect Agreed. The OP really needs to point us to the listings, because we might be able to answer the question a lot easier if we knew exactly what she's talking about.

OP3 years agoAm I allowed to call them out here? Haha, I have no problem doing it but I don't know if that goes against any rules

·3 years agoDoes the statement about not accepting returns appear only in their Description? The TR-Plus badge is based on whatever the seller chooses for the "Shipping and payments" section of the listing; this will also show at the top of the listing, next to "Returns:".

OP3 years agoNo, it's in the listing as a whole on all parts you mentioned, not only in the description!

·3 years agoAltho they may be Top Rated, That one item you looked at will not be sold as Top Rated. They may offer returns on 1 item out of 1000 and still be Top Rated.
glinters
OP3 years agoSo then they get the badge on all listings just because one of them qualifies? That's crazy if so!
nobody*s_perfect
·3 years agoNo, it goes listing-by-listing. Otherwise, that would be a HUGE loophole: the seller could offer 30 day free returns on just one of their listings.

·3 years agoWhats it really matter, ebay makes sellers return or refund either way, so you are fine.

OP3 years agoI've been blessed with great buyers only so far so that hasn't been an issue personally, I'm more curious as to how it works
