Took a break, now back to selling, any suggestions?
Good Morning,
I took a break from selling, but now i'm looking to get back at it.
Any suggestions from seasoned sellers on what items are selling the fastest and with the most money earned?
I would usually sell my daughters clothes she would out grow, but she is now off to college and on her own.
Looking to sell other items for example Books that i have already read, my clothes, knick knacks , just items i could pass on that might enjoy the item more.

·3 years agoDo you have a Managed Payments account?
You will need to supply your SSN (because : taxes) and checking account information to get paid.
Many sellers have opened dedicated checking accounts for online sales.
As a returning seller, your payments will be Held against your performance for up to 30 days.
You can still buy shipping labels with the Held funds.
There are some discounts available on the shipping labels.
Take a close look at fees when setting your prices.

Note that fees are charged on your buyer's ENTIRE payment which includes price, shipping, and sales taxes.
You now have 250 FREE Listings without a Store.
The number of listings available to Stores has increased greatly.

·3 years agoBe sure to read up on the eBay fees you will have to pay on the items you sell. These fees sometimes catch sellers off guard if they haven't made themselves aware of how much they will be paying. Also, be aware that if you sell $600 or more, you will get a 1099 from eBay that will have to be filed with your taxes.

As for your question on "earned" you will have to do the math on that one since none of us know what you paid for the item, what operating expenses you have or what Federal and State income tax brackets you are in. Gross sales mean nothing if your expenses and taxes are greater than your selling price.

Hi Marie-
Note that new or infrequent sellers will experience transaction (money) holds while learning best selling practices. This helps sellers become established and build a strong selling history on eBay. New sellers typically experience holds for up to 14 days, although sometimes it may be longer.
Also, make sure you take returns. Ebay has a 30 day money back guarantee for all buyers. They have 30 days to file a return if they are not happy with the item and really don't have to have a reason.

Good morning Marie, you know your going to be treated as a new seller so it's going to be slow going.
Use this time to view any updates, rules, and make sure your account is accurate.
Get out there and start junking, thrifting and start stocking up on supplies for shipping.
Soon to be August, look for older Christmas items, ugly sweaters ( Christmas) and kitchen items in pastels. Just read the new colors for kitchens will be based on 1950s colors and I'm way ahead of that game!
Watch some YouTube sellers, view what they are picking up. Select them under resellers and antiques.

·3 years agoI’m not sure how long you’ve been away from selling , but quite a bit has changed in the past several years.
If you haven’t done so already, you need to sign up for managed payments with your checking account. Paypal is no longer the payment processor for seller payouts.
You may also be required to up load your social security number for income tax purposes.
When you do start to sell, since you’re an infrequent seller your payouts will be held for up to 30 days.
Clothing, Knick knacks, and books categories are highly saturated, clothes being the highest. So don’t expect to your items sell fast. As for most money earned on items, you’ll need to do your own research on that.

·3 years agoI have learned over the last 24 years of my Ebay life, that you just have to be adaptable with what you sell... the things you mentioned don't get top dollar (unless they are spectacular and rare items)
Just do your research... look at those items on Ebay (under sold items) and see what you can realistically get for them.
