Told 3/7 that ebay opting us into ebay international shipping (EIS) | Selling

Got the message on 3/7 and still waiting. As far as we can tell still not opted in. On the shipping preferences page it shows "Shipping service - Global Shipping Program - Not enrolled" We don't want the new service so just waiting to opt out.

Something is not right at all with the new program. I used to ship 3-4 items a week to the GSP and went all over the word. Since I have been switch (30 days or so) I have some 4 items total and ALL have gone to Canada. That is more than I have shipped to Canada in the last 5 years total... This just does not make any sense unless they are not allowing my items to be seen by oversees customers or the cost has skyrocketed....No other parameter has changed. Anyone else seeing this?

There are a LOT of restrictions with the new EIS program that did not exist with the GSP.

Getting started with the eBay International Shipping program

To sell through the eBay International Shipping program, the following requirements apply:

Seller rating of Above Standard or higher
Items are physically located in the US and listed on eBay.com
Items are eligible for export and the cost doesn't exceed $500 USD
Packages should not exceed:
- 44lbs. billable weight for every country except Canada (maximum billable weight for Canada is 66lbs.)
- 42 inches in length, 79 inches in length + girth (girth = 2 x width + 2 x height)

Restricted items and categories

Items included in eBay's hazardous, restricted or regulated materials policy, or that don't follow our International trading policy, can't be shipped using eBay International Shipping.

Due to export limitations and restrictions, items listed in the following categories also can't be shipped with eBay International Shipping:

Any category or items containing Radium or other radioactive materials
Business & Industrial > Heavy Equipment & Attachments
Collectibles > Knives, Swords & Blades (over 4 inches)
eBay Motors > Airbags, Used Parts, AC Refrigerant
Electronics > Standalone Lithium Batteries (not inside or with a device)
Electronics > High-power Lithium Battery devices (over 100 watt-hour)
Health & Beauty > Fragrances (Flammable Perfumes & Cologne)
Jewelry > High value (over $2500)
Personal Security > Pepper Spray, Stun Guns, Handcuffs
Sporting Goods > Other (CO2 Cartridges, Firearm Parts, Laser Scopes)
Stamps, Coins & Paper Money > Prohibited to China

This is not an exhaustive list and it may be updated based on transportation regulations and export laws.

The major difference from a buyer's point of view is that currently the EIS does not support combined shipping. If I were to buy one US bank note and one Philippines bank note from you, shipping to Canada would be $30. If I also wanted a $5 poker chip and a $1 poker chip, total shipping cost for all 4 items would be $64. When paid for in the cart the gsp did combine some of the international shipping portion, now they don't. I'm hoping that will change.

Opting out of eBay International Shipping

You can opt out of eBay International Shipping at any time by updating your shipping preferences. If you choose to opt-out, you'll be asked to provide a reason why.

To opt out of eBay International Shipping:

Go to My eBay and select Account.
Select Shipping preferences.
Select Show on the right-hand side of the Shipping Preferences section.
Select Opt Out on the right-hand side of eBay International Shipping.
Select Done.

Please don't take this wrong - what you said is most likely right as in it would take a person to the right place - but only if they used the 'my ebay' pages. We use the 'seller hub' ones so no 'summary' or account tab'

I was enrolled in GSP and I just recently noticed I am now switched over to EIS.

I never really got a chance to read up on EIS.

Anyone know what the major differences are?

One major difference is that GSP was a DDP service while EIS is currently a DDU service (supposed to convert to DDP down the road).

DDP = Duty Paid / DDU = Duty NOT paid

My impression is that even though they are sending these messages to sellers, that they won't opt you in unless you are already using the gsp or if you don't sell internationally already and don't have any blocks set up. Since you are already selling internationally usps I don't 'think' they will opt you into EIS.

Iâ€™m not automatically opted in because Iâ€™ve never shipped with GSP. Plus havenâ€™t shipped internationally in over 10 years.
So Iâ€™m guessing if you have never enrolled in GSP you wonâ€™t be auto enrolled into EIS.
