Any advice for how to go about still being productive and not losing my top rated status while I’m away in another country for 12 days?

Communicate. Remind the buyer that you are away and you will ship immediately upon your return. Sometimes people don’t see that note at the top of the listings.
I also send a note when I ship the item …..Thanking them for waiting.
Never had a problem….Most people are understanding. We do travel and that is what has worked fine for me.

OP1 month agoThank you so much for your super helpful response! So you make note to buyers that you’re away, but you still allow them to buy things? and then you just message to remind them that you are away and will ship as soon as you get back?

That is what I do and it has worked out fine….Actually I think the customer appreciates that.
The note I put in the order is just one that is pretty generic and I put it in the order with the invoice.
I was gone for 2 weeks in October and November and it worked out fine.

·1 month agoIt doesn't show you are a TRS.
I'd use Time Away and hide everything until you return.
You'll still be responsible to take care of any problems while you're gone.

OP1 month agoThanks for your helpful response! On my end, it shows that if they rated me today, I would be top rated. It has said that for several weeks. I assume when they rate me again on the 20th it will show.

·1 month agomake sure and check ebay messages at least every other day to respond to a case and refund any returns if needed.

·1 month agoVacation mode. I suggest making it where people can't buy things and not changing that until 2 days before you get back.
Your volume is large enough that the lost sales will not effect your top rated status.

OP1 month agoThank you so much for your helpful response! I would like to continue making sales if it all possible as this is my source of income. What kind of things could happen if somebody bought something given that Ebay posts a message that says I’m away?

If you make any sales while you are away on vacation, you are still responsible for shipping those items on time -- if not shipped on time, that may indeed lower your Top Rated status.
Play it safe by putting your entire store on "Time away" mode; or, alternatively, ending all of your listings entirely, and then reinstating them when you return.

OP1 month agoAlso wondering if I need to keep listing daily 😅? I haven’t missed a day since I started about eight months ago.

·1 month agoYou don't need to do any of that stuff.
There will be a notice that you're on vacation and shipments may be delayed. If you prevent sales, there's still the possibility of someone purchasing something they have on their watch list during this time (unless that's been changed) so you need to check.
You don't have to keep listing. You don't have to do anything except to check your messages daily. If you're like me and are actually out of any contact for days at a time, you can set an auto-message in the same place where you set your time away.

·1 month agoWhile on Time Away, it's supposed to adjust your shipping times, but doesn't always work.
The main problem I see while still allowing sales, what would you do if something come up and you couldn't get back when you planned and had orders that you needed to ship?

·1 month agoPut your store in vacation mode so customers know you will be gone, and late shipments won't count against you.
Or if you want to be super safe, just take down all the listings completely until you get back.
