This listing was removed for violating our Electronic equipment policy .
I recently got a " This listing was removed for violating our Electronic equipment policy. " for a roku " remote.RC280 Replacement Remote For Roku Smart TV
I am reading through the violation but cant see why?
"
Most electronic equipment used to transmit or receive signals or for surveillance is not allowed. Those we allow must follow our policy.
To comply with federal, state, and local agency regulations and to protect the safety and privacy of our members, there are restrictions around the sale of electrical and electronic equipment.
What is the policy?
The following types of electronic equipment are not allowed:
- Appliances for sale in California that do not meet applicable efficiency standards
- Cameras and recording devices that include images or text that states or implies the device can be used to record others without their knowledge
- Cameras that are embedded in other objects or that are designed to look like other objects, such as toothbrush holders, stuffed toys, clocks, or electrical outlets
- CB amplifiers and radio equipment that operate in both CB and HAM frequencies
- Electricity- or energy-saving devices that claim to reduce electricity consumption
- Electronic items prohibited by government agencies, including cell phone, GPS radar, and other signal jamming devices. See the FCC's Jammer Enforcement page for more information
- Equipment not authorized by the FCC, such as low-power transmitting devices, high frequency transceivers, cordless telephones, radar detectors, and items on the FCC Covered List
- Light bulbs in the home that do not meet energy efficiency standards defined by the Department of Energy, including incandescent and halogen light bulbs
- Traffic light control devices
Activity on eBay is required to follow this policy, the eBay User Agreement and all applicable laws, as well as respect the rights of third parties. If it doesn’t, eBay may take action consistent with applicable laws and the eBay User Agreement, and may even be legally required to do so. Such actions may include, as an example only: Removing the listing or other content, issuing a warning, restricting activity or account suspension. "

Every TV, Radio, computer, anything bluetooth, all smart home devices, antennas and almost everything else with a processor would be eliminated under that one sentence.

·4 months agoI once had a Spectrum cable box remote taken down simply because it had "Spectrum" on it.
I rubbed off the "Spectrum" and re-listed without any problem.

·4 months agoSo according to that policy, cordless telephones are also verboten now?
I guess ANY remote is also now suspect. This will be interesting.

·4 months agoI once had a listing for a tilting mirror removed as a DVD copying device. They just flag key words and remove items. Watch out, eBay will keep a copy of that listing so if you ever try and relist it they will catch it.

Well, sort of. If AI says that we can no longer sell leather goods because it violates it's animal parts policy, I don't think any of us would just roll over and ignore it. Like the OP, I would certainly exhaust all options to find a resolution, including asking others on this board, especially if one's livelihood is at stake.
