Ebay releases the exact amount of the postage when you print through ebay. You can NOT let a buyer wait until you have the physical cash in your hand. If you insist on buying the label at the post office, borrow money from someone if you do not have it or use a credit card. Customers expect their item to be shipped as soon as they pay.

To be clear, it's a seller choice about how to pay for the postage label when printing through eBay, and the selection can be found at the bottom left of the Shipping form. The seller can pay for the label either from his PayPal account (if he has one) or from the buyer's payment, the pending funds held by eBay. (They're called "pending" not because the buyer's payment hasn't cleared yet -- it has -- but because the funds have not yet been transferred to the seller's own bank account.)
It's a "sticky" choice, meaning that once the seller chooses the payment method, it remains that way for future purchases unless or until the seller changes to the other method.
Although eBay may be holding the funds, the cost of postage will be released if the label is purchased through eBay.
You have to be signed up to use pending funds for shipping, it is not automatic. If you don't have that box checked, you will need to use your funding source that is on file, such as credit card, checking account or Pay-Pal.
Good observation. Yes, @westindiesrecordingltd... your funds may be placed on Hold, but you need to ship if an order is found in your Seller Hub/Orders/Awaiting shipment. <<That means you have been paid.

·3 years agoWhen you buy a shipping label through Ebay, scroll down on the left side of the page and select Pending Funds to pay for the shipping labels.
The charge will come out of the buyers payment.

·3 years agoWhen the buyer has paid, you will see the order status on the Ebay Seller's Hub as "Buyer Paid - Please Ship Now". That's when you ship the item.
Since we are all in Ebay Managed Payments, Ebay then pays us according to our payment schedule.
