The truth about BBE and ebay.com
On August 25, 2025, after I explained to the buyer that absolutely all EU countries do not ship to the USA, the buyer himself asked me to cancel. And I did it immediately. Towards the end of December, I received a message from eBay regarding the assessment of my account. Since then, I started asking eBay support questions, and each of their answers was absolutely meaningless. I took screenshots so that everyone could clearly see eBay's lies. I took a screenshot on private messages with the buyer, hiding his name, understandable why. I took a screenshot on the message from eBay about the order being cancelled. I took a screenshot how eBay is committing fraud, since the buyer himself wants me to cancel, but after this fraud, my account is now restricted due to BBE. Bad experience for the buyer or eBay.com. and the loss of fees for them??? After a series of my questions to eBay support regarding BBE, I receive an answer that I sent the shipment to the US. How did I send it after I cancelled and refunded at the buyer's request??? The real meaning of BBE is not a bad buyer experience, regarding the inability of all sellers from countries on the UPU list to ship to the US, but a loss of money for eBay.com!!!!

OP9 months agoThank you for helping me to show what eBay is doing (violation of RIGHTS) to Europeans and through your comments, thank you to almost all US sellers who wrote under my posts, demonstrating, and with great fervor, their arrogance! You don't even realize what you have shown and what you have exposed 🙂 . Thank you for writing to me personally, and to other Europeans countless times, that we have no rights at all on eBay.com! We laugh out loud 🙂 !
''Since eBay owns the servers and the brand'' They wouldn't own anything if it weren't the users! Fact! Also fact - all private corporations, private companies violate human rights! US citizens should know this best, given everything that has happened and is happening in the USA 🙂 .

·9 months agoCalling eBay 'fraud' for fees doesn't add up. You’ve sold 742 items—eBay makes way more money keeping you active than they do by restricting you over one cancellation fee.
The real issue with BBE is that it’s an automated bot. If you list an item available to the US but then tell a buyer you can’t ship there, the system flags it as a 'Seller Fault' cancellation. It’s not about the money from that one sale; it’s a penalty because the algorithm thinks you're listing items you can't actually deliver.

OP9 months agoÐnother question arises - why should I pay eBay.com for a store, since eBay does not provide conditions for this store? I mean an option to exclude the USA for delivery until it is decided whether the customs tariffs are legal or not. Today I canceled my subscription for a store. I will pay fees only for orders that I can fulfill. I am writing all this because there are many illogical actions on the part of eBay. Because of BBE, many European sellers no longer have stores. Their accounts are permanently restricted. eBay is losing money, and a lot of it. There is no logic in such actions!

Account-Level Exclusions (All Listings)
This is the fastest way to apply rules across your entire inventory:
Navigate to Settings: Hover over your name in the top-left corner and select Account Settings.
Open Shipping Preferences: Under the "Selling" section, select Shipping Preferences.
Edit Exclusions: Find Exclude shipping locations and click Edit.
Select Locations: Check the boxes for regions (e.g., North America, Europe) or click "Show all countries" to select individual nations.
Apply to Existing Listings: Check the box to "Apply to all current live listings" if you want these rules to update your active stock.
Save: Click Save to confirm.
Listing-Level Exclusions (Specific Items)
If you only want to exclude countries for certain items:
Edit Listing: Go to your Active Listings in the Seller Hub and select Revise on the item.
Shipping Section: Scroll to the Shipping area. If you don't see exclusions, click See shipping options and toggle Excluded locations to "On".
Set Exclusions: Click into the excluded locations field to select specific regions or countries.
Finish: Select Done

OP9 months agoThanks for your efforts to advise! I know the options 🙂 , but in ebay.com, despite being international, not ebay.us, there is no option for US. At all. There is for example, in ebay.uk. Or the others. So absolutely everything is inadequate for sellers from a fairly large number of countries who are waiting finally to be found a solution in US .

·9 months ago@vintage-shop-teota
There is NO ebay.us... ebay.com is the US site.
You are ranting about this to no end. I (and many others) mentioned on one of your other rant threads that you cannot exclude shipping to the USA if you list on ebay.com, and maybe list on the UK Ebay site (or one within EU)
I think that if you don't want to ship to the USA doesn't mean EVERYONE else in the EU doesn't want to either. If I have to pay duty on and item from, let's say Germany, does that mean the seller in Germany will just cancel the sale because he doesn't want to ship here?
BTW, I don't think many of us here in the USA are happy with the results of these changes. But we can't do much about it
vintage-shop-teota
OP9 months ago'' ebay.com is the US site.'' Just located in US, nothing more! It's international. For that reason there are an eBay International Shipping program, International purchases and shipping for buyers, Selling internationally an so on. If you're a seller using eBay International Shipping, you can add or remove eBay International Shipping for locations excluded under your international shipping options or business policies by going to "Exclude shipping locations" in your Shipping Preferences and using the eBay International Shipping toggle.
''because he doesn't want to ship here?'' '' You are ranting about this to no end.'' Especially to you, who are constantly extremely arrogant and rude towards me and other Europeans, especially towards all the other sellers, who obviously have a nature to be rude and have shown this repeatedly in the past few days - the whole world does not want to trade with the USA!!! I only took 4 screenshots because the list of countries is very long.

·9 months agoWhat you're not getting is you have the BBE for WHY you canceled that transaction.
Yes, your messages between you and your Buyer clearly shows Buyer requested, asked YOU to cancel. You do not cancel "at Buyers request" through messages. Buyer has an option to cancel themselves. You can approve or deny that cancellation. Nothing goes against your Metrics doing it that way. Ebay sends message that clearly says "Buyer has requested to cancel for XXX reason. You may do so without any penalty", or some kind of wording like that. You go and cancel, it's all done with. No BBE, no ding, nothing. You chose to cancel off a message, and used OOS as the reason for the Cancellation. Doesn't matter what is all said in messages, ebay's system shows you sold something you didn't have, so you had to CANCEL because you didn't have it in stock, OOS. That was a Bad Experience for that Buyer. BBE Earned.
And, you chose to close your "Store", cancel your Subscription over this? WITH 1000 Listings up....
Then said you're only going to pay "Fees" for items you sell, WHEN your items sell. Yeah, your fees just went up whether you realize it or not. 😂
jonathanbrightlight
·9 months agoYou shouldn't. You should remove your listings from ebay.com as you've been advised to do multiple times.
vintage-shop-teota
OP9 months agoRather, almost everyone here of US sellers claimed that Europeans have no right to sell on eBay.com. Haha... since we pay fees for all and since it's international, we have rights! They don't pay our bills, ebay fees, our labor, so they have no right to tell Europeans where to sell. I want to note that you are the only one US who shows manners and behaves normally. Thank you! And yes, that's exactly what I'm thinking - to gradually move my goods to another. There is a comment above that now that I don't have a store, I will pay higher fees. Yes, I am aware of that. Actually I have a month to think if I want a store again. Not so much because of the administrative chaos in America, as I am disgusted by eBay's inadequacy regarding a global trade problem and by the US sellers who showed a very ugly nature.

·9 months ago@vintage-shop-teota
No one said Europeans specifically have no right to sell on eBay.
No one, anywhere, in any country, has a right to sell on eBay.
Period.
vintage-shop-teota
OP9 months agoOn the contrary, many US sellers did it. In other posts. And it wasn't just to me. To other EU sellers here. And to all Europeans. Some were censored because eBay doesn't allow the truth and one was locked.
jonathanbrightlight
·9 months agoI get that it's hard to hear, but I've read all of the posts you're referring to, and you're misunderstanding what has been said to you and the other poster(s) that have been posting incessantly about this.
It's time to move on. Find another way to make money.
kensgiftshop
·9 months agoIt's a privilege to sell on Ebay, not a right.
You can sell on any site you want, but you have to deal with their terms.
Ebay isn't going to change the way they run their site just because you can't ship to the US.
What everyone is telling you, list on another site, so you can block US buyers, until you can start shipping to the US.
If you continue listing on the .com site and canceling orders, they will give you the boot.
kensgiftshop
·9 months agoI think that was your problem.
The buyer didn't ask to cancel, until you told them you couldn't ship.
It was your problem you couldn't ship, not the buyers.
vintage-shop-teota
OP9 months agoPlease, stop writing nonsense! He unlike you, understands everything perfectly. Since he decides cancellation, how does that make my profile risky, with a BBE rating? And how come I sent an order that I cancelled? I argue everything and show it with screenshots. Why you don't realise that you writing a nonsense and denials of eBay's scams. Because they are obvious. Why don't you know that there are also intelligent people, intelligent US buyers, who understand the situation and don't have the malice that the US sellers have on the forum here.
kensgiftshop
·9 months ago@vintage-shop-teota
I understand.
When you told the buyer you couldn't ship the item, what was the buyer supposed to do?
Tell you not to worry about it and keep their money, no they ask to cancel the order.
If you hadn't told the buyer you couldn't ship, do you think they would request to have the order canceled?
No, and neither does Ebay.
ltldpr
·9 months agoIf eBay can prevent a listing from being seen due to item recall or because item is illegal to sell or something like that, and if eBay can give shipping prices based on what's been entered into a listing and 2 locations, and a ton of other things, eBay should not be allowing sales that are prohibited based on location.
eBay is shooting itself in the proverbial foot over this nonsense. They're making enemies out of long-time, good, European sellers.
I wonder if anyone in the board room is aware, because it's costing them money.
old-violin-international
·9 months agoThe same thing happened to me. All my attempts to contact ebay were senseless.
Even phone calls were only answered by AI, telling me that's "no agent available".
Further more, it looks that my restriction is not limited, but permanent/final.
And this after 20 years on ebay with 100% positive feedback and a "Above standard" rating.
vintage-shop-teota
OP9 months agoThank you for sharing this! It's very important finally to be understood what doing ebay.
luckythewinner
·9 months agoCan you clarify one thing? Are you saying that the BBE rate that eBay shows you in your seller hub is based on this one cancellation and nothing else?
vintage-shop-teota
OP9 months agoYeap! The last screenshot - the msg from ebay support. And the screenshot - Defects and late shipments. Only one reason for the fake BBR rating in my accont and this's very clear visible.
shire123
·9 months agoNot sure what the overall issue is here. you are still above standard. And will still be above standard after the next eval (1/20) as long as there are no more BBE's. I do not see any restrictions on your listings which agrees with the ebay email says there are no restrictions.
Not sure I would get too upset with just one misapplied cancelation???
vintage-shop-teota
OP9 months ago''as there are no more BBE's'' I showing ebay's fraud and no, it's very important - it's not BBE, it's a fraud! Very big difference!
Unavailable member
·9 months agoIf you don’t like the way eBay evaluates you, there’s nothing preventing you from selling elsewhere.
BBE evaluated you on your cancellations there is no exemption for cancelling at buyers request. All cancellations are counted. Service Standard policy
No where in the policy does it say buyer cancellations are exempt.
vintage-shop-teota
OP9 months agoAnd why don't you see the lie, the fraud? How did I send the shipment after a cancellation and refund was made? And why don't you see the contradiction you are in and which you show through the screenshot? or the item was never shipped Please look again at the screenshot that I show with the response to eBay support! And please, argue in an intelligent way, not in an eBay hypocritical way, why should I send a shipment, since the buyer himself wants a cancellation? eBay is putting me in BBE because I didn't send a shipment, and at the same time BBE because I sent the same shipment ..... hahaha.... schizophrenia, shamelessness, ....
Unavailable member
·9 months agoWhat I clearly see is the email you received from an eBay rep telling that even though you were aware of your governments policies on shipping to the US. And you were still aware when you decided to keep listing items that ship to the US. Resulting in eBay giving you a defect for cancelling an order, regardless of the buyer asking to cancel or not.
It seems the only one at fault here is you.
ltldpr
·9 months agoThe eBay support person said that you "LISTED" it after the sanctions/tariffs whatever they are, went into effect.
It's a horrible policy imo, and eBay is in the wrong in how it's all automated and punishes European sellers for BUYER REQUESTED cancellations, but we're all bound by their policies.
Personally, if I were a seller in Europe, I would not list anything on eBay until these sanctions or tariffs are gone. I wouldn't give them another cent at least until the US policy changes because eBay will obviously allow the transaction and then ding your account for it.
I understand your anger at eBay. It's unnecessary to take it out on the people here though.
vintage-shop-teota
OP9 months agoPlease explain to all of us how a buyer has a BBE that he himself didn't even think that has such experience?
luckythewinner
·9 months agoBecause eBay's BBE standard doesn't measure subjective opinions, it measures objective statistics.
