The latest listings quality performance report has been added to Seller Hub
For anyone who uses it to see your standing, I thought I would let you know that the May 25th report is available now under your performance tab - these were once issued more regularly but now there are long stretches between them -
If you don't use it, maybe take a peek.

·4 months agoEvery time I use that thing, the report just tells me to promote more at a higher rate. Ummm, no.
I do agree that it's a useful tool, however. I'm sure it offers other suggestions that don't involve paying ebay more money.

OP4 months agoYes - I happily IGNORE that suggestion - I only look at category rank, google rejections and other suggestions (Item Specifics, best offer, etc) to build out my listings when I get the report - I have found it to be very useful.

What does the category rank tell us? How can we use that info to our benefit? Inquiring minds (well at least one inquiring mind) want to know.

OP4 months agoTo me, this one is the most fun. 🤓
Your category rank shows exactly where you stand in Gross Merchandise Value (GMV / total sales volume) over the last 31 days compared to every other seller on the platform in that specific niche and condition. For example, if you are ranked #8 out of 888 sellers, you are mathematically performing in the top 1% of that global market.
How do I use the info?
A high ranking reveals where your market authority sits. If you rank exceptionally high in a specific niche, it proves your sourcing eye, keyword choice, item specifics and pricing are optimized for the buyers in that category.
eBay’s search engine rewards high transaction activity and consistent sales. Dominating a category passively adds higher ranking throughout all of your listings, giving a search boost to inventory in other categories.
Monitoring your rank also helps you separate trends from actual performance. If your sales slow down but your rank holds steady or climbs, it means the entire market slowed down and you are still in the top tier, saving you from making unnecessary price drops. BUT - if your rank slips while competitor numbers grow, it’s an immediate cue to refresh your inventory or tweak your listings, which I did regularly for weeks when they would issue the dang thing every two days like they promised. I love this spreadsheet and I wish they would stay on top of it!

·4 months agoThat is awesome!! I just took a quick peek and wow! That is great info. The two categories that I'm not in the top 1% for are, rather ironically, Tarot Cards & Bags....buuuut it says that I have 17 items in "Used". I only have 3-4 used decks listed and no used bags so this is even more useful than just info on standing. I know I need to go back in and look at what I did with those other dozen or so listings that is making them show up in Used. The number of other sellers in these categories is tiny (81 for Unknown condition and 164 for Used), and I'm a tiny store, so it might not make a difference but it's good to know that my listings are jacked up so I can fix them.
This is really fun. Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this and explaining. I never even noticed that bit of info. I also love that you can click on the category and get a highly detailed breakdown of the stats.
I looooooooove data, real data, especially when it shows me my own errors.
