I find original genuine items all the time on eBay. I have run into fakes listed from time to time but have done my homework and don't pay them much mind. Mass counterfeited items I don't bother searching for on eBay or other similar sites in the first place.

Then quit dumpster diving. If you see alot of counterfeited items that are things you want, then crawl out of the dumpster and buy in person for a realistic (not too good to be true) price. There are lots of reputable sites out there that don't have the eBay, Etseek or River format. Of course you'll pay more but get the real thing without having to wade through a bunch of counterfeits.....................

·1 year agoAll of the items that I buy that are commonly counterfeited I just buy local from a reputable retailer and selling any of the china garbage either legit or counterfeit on ebay is a fools errand.

·1 year agoThat is a great alternative. The key here is the buyers. If buyers don't buy from these sellers, then eventually these sellers will go away on their own. If they can't make money here, they won't sell here. So as long as buyers are buying the stuff, the sellers remain.

·1 year agoProblem is some of the sellers will have a picture of an OEM part but send an aftermarket part. Its happened to me a few times once by one of, if not THE largest sellers of appliance parts on ebay. China/aftermarket junk has ruined even being able to sell many of the items I once did well on and now they sell cheaper than it even cost me to ship them. Or they will have parts that closely resemble OEM parts even as far as having a look alike OEM tag on the item that most buyers wouldn't even notice.

·1 year agoI understand many of the various problems that happen for this subject. It can be different between types of items being counterfeited. It doesn't really change much of anything. It is a problem, it is a big problem that we have had for years. Ebay is not the only Marketplace with these issues.
For legit sellers it is a real problem, I respect that. I too wish there was an easy way to resolve these issues.

OP1 year agoEbay becomes a Bubble full of Chinese garbage .When Genuine Items sellers eventually go, the Bubble will burst.

·1 year agoAs a buyer, I don't mind that there are alternatives to OEM stuff. But there is far too much of the making repro/cheap junk, making it look like OEM. Drill batteries are a really good example that most people can see. I will not buy them here or the River as there are mostly fakes listed and masked as OEM.
There is FAR more fakes/repros/junk listed then there are OEM/originals. eBay could very well do SOMETHING about it, but they choose not to, because them getting fees outweighs the consumer getting what they are supposed to. Until there is legal pressure, nothing will be done.

·1 year agoIts a difficult issue when you have a peer to peer marketplace.
Ebay has made changes to foreign sellers by implementing their BBE policy that helps purge out some.
Domestic sellers are harder to stop. If eBay made it stricter then more false positives would occur and more complaints on the forums.
Tricky issue.

Searching results shows thousands of Counterfeit, Imitations, copies and other garbage.
Most sellers can be put into one of three basic categories:
1) Sellers that have been around for a while and have lots of positive feedback for selling, and that have enough feedback for selling similar valued items to judge that they are reliably delivering what they have advertised.
2) Sellers that have been around a while and have a pattern of negative feedback that shows problems delivering what they have advertised.
3) Sellers that have not been around long enough or sold enough to be able to reliably judge one way or the other.
Purchase only from the sellers that fall into the first category. Avoid the second category. Withhold judgement on the third category pending more information until they can be placed in one of the other two categories.
After buying on eBay for a while, you should get better at moving sellers from the last category into either of the first two categories based on the information at your disposal.

OP1 year agoYou have to spend a half- day in the pile of a garbage to find legit item with good deal. Who does that ? People's don't have a time and knowledge for digging on this platform and eBay not helping .

People's don't have a time and knowledge for digging on this platform and eBay not helping .
And yet many people still find good deals and manage to avoid buying garbage by following a few simple guidelines, like checking a seller's feedback page before buying.

·1 year agoThis has been going on for years. China is very well known for doing this. While you may see this as an Ebay specific problem it isn't. It happens on the other marketplaces as well, especially Amazon.
I agree, it makes it very difficult for buyers to find legit items. I've just learned to make sure that I buy from actual US sellers. Even that can be difficult to figure out too. Because just because someone ships from the USA doesn't make them a US Seller. To see what country the seller is registered in, you need to look at their feedback page.

·1 year agoIDK, I'm my only boss. I know if anyone disagrees with you, you like to pull out various different statements that you feel are insulting and certainly dismissive of whatever was said that you don't agree with. Instead of recognizing that we don't all see things in the same way.
Or, be still my heart, actually LEARNING something.
OK, like before on the other thread you had going regarding AI, I ask for whatever proof you have that this is suddenly a bigger issue on Ebay than it has been in the past. Or that it only happens on Ebay.

This is looks like the Economic INVASION by killing business in US and eBay cares only about the fees from Chinese Invaders.
