The Elephant Sale in the Room-ebay was Cyberattacked/Hacked
ebay did not disclose to us that we were under cyberattack starting April 26th.
I've been on ebay for 27 years and I was hacked with two declined offers for items I did not make in my account this morning.
Look at the Down Detector activity within the past 24 hours. https://downdetector.com/status/ebay/map/

OP5 months agoI must have received notification today about offers I declined, which is way after the fact that I may gave viewed them--weeks--so I didn't even remember them if I did visit the sellers' pages. I was able to speak to Trust and Security by phone. ebay was indeed hacked April 26th. I had to find that out in the New York Post. Just search for it.

·5 months agoYou are confusing a Distributed Denial of Service attack with an actual intrusion. A DDOS (which did happen on April 26th) simply overloaded the Ebay servers with nonsense traffic intended to overwhelm normal user activity - and did for a while. That does not gain the attackers any access of any kind. Normal business resumed shortly thereafter.

·5 months agoI can just look at an item and receive seller offers.
I don’t add it to a watchlist; I just open the listing, look at it, and a few minutes later, a seller’s offer appears, even though I never requested one. It’s automatically set up by the seller.

·5 months agoIf your account was compromised there is a 99% chance that the hack was possible because YOU were hacked/phished etc not "eBay".
From what I know about the April 26th event, a DDOS attack do not allow any access to confidential information but rather just overloaded eBay's systems.
The big hack 10+ years ago MAY have exposed confidential information which is why eBay required all users to change their passwords in that case.

No one hacked you or sent out any offers on your account. It literally says "Seller's offer" in your screen shot. You likely ignored them so they automatically declined.

Those both appear to be seller-initiated-offers (SIO) because they are not shown in the purchase/offer history on either of those items. So no buyers have made any offers on either of those items.
So this is not evidence that your account has been compromised. Just two sellers sent out offers to (probably) multiple buyers, and you declined them.

·5 months agoA couple of minor issues reported out of millions of users on Ebay is not a hack.
Most likely the issue is with your own computer or software.

·5 months agoHi @rosevelyn
Contact Security Center … link is way at bottom of screen … and let them know what you discovered. They will help you bring your eBay account back to how you want it.

·5 months agoI don't think someone would hack your account just to send out offers.

OP5 months agoHacks are notoriously indiscriminate and just done to leave a mark.
