My store has been set to "time away" for the past month and a half due to medical issues.
Thanks to those who sent me well wishes. â¤ï¸
I brought my store back from time away yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to receive a order.
I thought it might take a while to get sale(s) after being away for so long.
Ebay is working just fine.
Those who were curious about my injury/illness
I suffered a serious foot injury. I went to the doctor and they patched me up and sent me home.
A few days later I got sick. I thought it was the flu. OTC medicines would not help.
After 4 or 5 days of getting worse, I went to the doctor again.
I was then rushed to the hospital in a ambulance.
I had no clue that the two were related but it turns out I got sepsis from that foot wound.
Sepsis is a infection carried through your blood and shuts down all your organs.
My doctors said I was a day (if not hours) from death.
After 6 weeks of antibiotic IV's 3 times a day (111 IVs total) and wound care, i'm out of the hospital.
Still confined to rented hospital bed in my living room, hooked up to a wound vac.
With the help of friends and family I am able to re-open my ebay store once again even though I am not 100%.
Have plan in case of emergencies.
The moment I got admitted tio the ER, I had a friend trained to set my store away and mail out any existing orders.

Very Glad to hear you are on the road to recovery. Sepsis is scary, hubby was in the hospital for 10 days with his.

I hope you continue to heal without incident and will be able to get rid of that hospital bed in your living room soon!

·11 months agoGreat to hear you are on the road to recovery & can do the rest at home. I would go stir crazy being in a hospital for 2 days! It's better news that we did not lose you; especially when you were close to such a rotten occurrence. You will be fine again. eBay? Not so much. 😛 Take care!

Whew! I'm sure we're all glad to hear you're back, James.
3 years ago I had major spinal surgery to fuse L4, L5 and S1, including donor discs (Wow, that Propofol is really good stuff!). Fortunately, I was able to anticipate being in the hospital for 3 days, so I put my eBay store on a 30-day time away about 5 days before the surgery. I was able to reopen it in 2 weeks.
But I also realized that if I had to go into the ER without having time to shut my store down, my wife and I would have been SOL. So I told my wife what to do if that was the case. And if I wasn't ever going to return home (ahem!), what to do to end all my listings and shut everything down.
I think I'll go over the procedure again with her.

Wow, that was quite an ordeal you've been through. Glad to hear you're on the other side of it.
Remember to take one day at a time. You'll get there.
While eBay may not be that important in the scheme of things, it's a great distraction. (While waiting several days to have surgery for a major injury some years back, I was wrapping eBay packages in my hospital bed. Most people thought I was nuts, but a few understood that it was keeping my mind occupied during a stressful time.)

Was in bad shape myself back in 2008? in similar condition (gut perforation). Turned green for awhile, almost died.
Sepsis is terrible..........

Oh James not that foot again. Wow, I used to do those wound vacs when I did home health and took care of alot of sepsis pts in the hospital.

Glad you're all right. I had something similar (foot injury too) but it was just cellulitis as the time it got caught. I was cleaning the bird cage in the shower and had an open wound on my foot. Cellulitis can lead to sepsis and it takes a week of antibiotics (3 times a day) to treat.
Sorry they weren't very responsive when you first went to the doctor. I was in ER three times before I was treated, the first two times they told me rub lotion on my foot and it would feel better. Being hooked up to an IV while at home was no fun either. They only give IV antibiotics if you need them immediately and can't wait for pills to work.
Nice to make a sale coming back too.

·11 months agoI am very glad to hear you are on the mend. And I am glad you told us your symptoms since I had a friend die from the same thing. He had a dental implant and started feeling sick. It was during Covid and he didn't want to go to the doctors and sit with "sick" patients in the waiting room. I'm sure he thought it was a cold or flu also. But he waited too long and passed away. It's important for people to know that if you have an open wound and feel sick in a few days that you should get it checked out.

Since you were on antibiotics, it's a good idea to concentrate on getting probiotics and prebiotics into your diet.

I was struggling with Time Away, I had set it 30 days ago knowing I was going to be having spinal cord surgery, which I had last Friday. I needed to reset it today and was struggling with it initially. FINALLY was able to reset it for another 30 days.
