Tarriffs Are Pre-paid But How Will Buyers Know
Dear eBay,
I have to pay the Tarriffs before I can ship an item. It would be beneficial to display a banner at the top of my listings indicating that tariffs have been paid, so potential buyers are aware of this. Unfortunately, the only option available is to include this information in the product description, which would be time-consuming and most buyers would probably not see it.
A visible message could potentially boost sales, as they have significantly declined since the introduction of tariffs as customers may be afraid to purchase because of the uncertainty of additional fees they might incur.
It would be nice if eBay would add a feature that allows sellers to add a message banner to all their listings at once, especially in situations like this.

·5 months agoA few months ago, a pilot project for pretty much what you are describing was discussed on the .ca discussion boards. Asian sellers on .com seemed to be the target for the pilot at that point:

There’s another recent thread on these boards that involved a buyer who purchased from a seller who somehow got eBay’s “no import charges” message applied to their listings when this wasn’t the case. I’ll be posting a link to the .ca thread on that thread shortly:

·5 months agoYes, @marnotom!, that's the thread I referenced. Unfortunately, the seller was not participating, it was started by the buyer, who has now stopped participating.
I remember the first thread you mentioned, from last November on eBay Canada. I posted on there, at the time.

·5 months agoI have seen some sellers who put this into their Condition statement, which has the advantage of being visible above the fold, in the high visibility area of the listing.
You should keep a close eye on your listings, meaning check them daily or more than once a day. There was a recent situation with a seller from Japan, listing on eBay.com, where eBay added information to all of their active listings saying that the import fees were included ... apparently without warning, or consent. But that seller was shipping DDU to the states.
That change would be great for you, because that's what you want. But that seller had to go on time away while they figured out a way to deal with it. They ended up increasing the cost of shipping so they could ship DDP since that was obviously what eBay was expecting of them.

·5 months agoWhen you are addressing this community you are addressing buyers and sellers you are not addressing Ebay. There is nothing we can say which would make the change you want. Ebay does what it wants to. We can only give you advice or answer questions.

so if you are paying tariffs that would need to be eliminated.
Doesn't Canada now offer EIS? (Ebay International Shipping), which handles tariffs, customs, etc? That shipping method would not show the warning.......

OP5 months agoThanks for pointing out that note. This is why in my post I mentioned that it would be beneficial to have a banner that allows for easy adjustments to these messages, as manually updating hundreds of products can be quite time-consuming.
I use Canada Post for shipping and I am required to pay the tariffs. I'm not sure if there are other fees that buyers MAY pay upon arrival, but I pay the Tarriffs.
Yes Canada does offer EIS option but only to sellers on .ca. Because I sell on .com, this feature is currently not accessible to me.

·5 months agoI would put this information in a photos (customers always look at the pictures). You can also do a "bulk edit" and add this information to all your listings.

·5 months agoNo, you would have to add every PHOTO to listings individually (one at a time).
You can only add WRITTEN MESSAGE to your description page using the BULK EDIT feature.
However, EBAY will still include warning "shown below" to all USA customers.
Due to US customs policies, the buyer of this item will need to pay import fees to the shipping carrier prior to delivery.
