Suspended
eBay is a crazy **bleep** place. You can be selling and doing your job for more than 10 years with everything going well, and then they roll out a new algorithm — and suddenly you’re blacklisted.
This community is also kind of useless, because all I ever hear is “contact eBay.†But we all know eBay won’t tell you anything. This place should be about sharing experiences and explaining in detail how others overcame similar problems, but instead, most replies are just “contact eBay.†So why does this community even exist?
If there’s anyone here who has actually been through this, did you get your money after 190 days?
I sold a lot of items the week before I was suspended. eBay even messaged me saying that if there were more sales and no more open disputes, my account would be reinstated — which turned out to be a lie. I shipped all the items with trackable numbers.
So are they just stealing my money? I understand holding the funds for 2 months — until all items are received and the 30-day return policy passes — but 190 days is ridiculous.

OP11 months agoA lot of international sellers contact me about this and told me that they are in exact same situation.
It is not our fault but ebay made changes and not in favor for international sellers. They just want to kick out small shops, and if you are international seller than you are not welcomed in this site.
It is terrible that here are people who are defend ebay, that this company mostly do right. I disagree on a lot of things what happening on this platform. Customer easily can scam sellers, they don't need to provide any prove that item is not as in description, and get fully refunded. Buyer can open case not received only if they want to ask where item is, and if case is close and item received next day, than still this is bad for seller. Delivery time calculation is totally messed up, how the **bleep** you can control post office work and custom hold time? There should be option for seller to put estimate delivery time manually to each country. Platform itself is total mess, i worked here long time and just accepted it but never thought it is fine or even good.

Other users here talking that new accounts are banned right away, only because they sold something up to 100 dollars or too fast or too expensive - where in the world it is normal?
This platform is for selling, ban people for that is outrages
Also banned because your profile is made in ip address where lived someone who was banned also is not normal.
bye ebay. ( and i dont believe in market average number, they dont have to prove anyone who situation really is and made up those numbers like they want )

·11 months agoI doubt many people are getting caught in bans based on who lived in their house previously. A very small percentage of the population is unable to follow the rules to the point where they are suspended from eBay.
eBay does not ask you to put your social network links in your description or anywhere else. In fact, it is explicitly prohibited: https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-policies/links-policy?id=4248
barn-tuning

yes there are many people who are banned. Actually too many if you seek information .

·11 months agoSeveral points:
First, I’m always surprised when sellers have difficulty selling here. I’m a first class screw-up; I could mess up a free lunch. But, this isn’t rocket science. I always feel like, if I can do this, anyone can. I’ve sold on other sites, and some of them do make you jump through hoops and make the whole thing difficult (looking at you, Amazon). But not eBay.
2) I can see, OP, based on what @jonathanbrightlight explained to you, that this might not be the only eBay policy you’re misunderstanding. This was a bit of an explanation of the total problem. That is, that you may be misunderstanding multiple eBay policies.
3) It’s definitely a fact that eBay holds overseas sellers to higher standards than US sellers (probably because it’s easer for them to do something to us!). It doesn’t take much to get an overseas seller banned.
4) eBay isn’t perfect, but they do get most things very right. Case in point; when a transaction is cancelled, they differentiate between things that are or are not a sellers fault. Buyer requested, problem with shipping address, etc. doesn’t count against the seller. I also drive for Uber, and ANY cancellation initiated by the seller counts against us, even when it’s for a safety reason (too many people (you’d be surprised how many adults think they can just hold their child on their lap!), young child with no car seat, unsafe pickup). Just like eBay favors buyers over sellers, rideshare companies favor riders over drivers). We may not always totally understand eBay’s reasoning . . . and they’re not going to explain it to us, because some pendejo out there would figure out a way to circumvent it.

·11 months agoWill you get your money after 190 days, yes you will
The reason for this long of a hold is that is how long a customer can file a dispute through paypal or their credit card company. eBay is trying to cover their bases so they don't get stuck with having to pay a disgruntled customer that files a claim 179 days after purchase with their credit card which will most likely go in the buyers favor as most chargebacks do. It stinks I know but it is what it is.
As for the replies to 'contact eBay', that's because nobody here can really help you. Yeah they can give you anecdotal experiences but those won't get your money to you or a reinstated account. Only ebay will do that and they don't hang around here.

·11 months agoeBay has now built a system where ALL responsibility – including for buyer scams, postal delays, and even customs issues – is dumped entirely on sellers.
A buyer can lie, claim 'item not received' when tracking shows delivery, or open a case just to ask a question… and it's still counted as our fault.
And the final insult? They say appeals are ‘not possible’. So even if the case was clearly resolved in seller’s favor, or the buyer was obviously wrong, it still stays in your record as a ‘bad buyer experience’.
This is not seller protection, this is seller punishment. And the irony is – we’re punished for making buyers happy in the end. How can you run an honest business in such a system?
lakefor94
·11 months ago@bratuck-0 @barn-tuning
The BBE initiative is unforgiving and we realize that. It is a very hard line that was invoked due to the number of sellers providing a bad buyer experience. Mostly due to fly-by-night drop shippers from around the world that cannot and do not control their inventory or their shipping thus resulting in disappointed buyers.
There are millions of sellers that fall under the BBE umbrella thus eBay cannot and will not investigate individual claims by each seller.
bratuck-0
·11 months agoI understand your point, and I do see why eBay wants to protect buyers and keep the marketplace safe.
But sellers are an equally important part of that marketplace — and we pay a significant commission on every sale not only for the platform to operate and protect buyers, but also to ensure fair treatment for honest sellers.
An honest seller will always stand by their word and provide proof when something goes wrong.
That’s why I believe there should be at least some room for human review in cases like this. Automated metrics are fast, but they don’t see the full picture — and sometimes a quick manual check could make the difference between penalizing a scammer and harming a genuine seller.
In the long run, this balance would help both sides and strengthen trust in the platform.
lakefor94
·11 months ago@bratuck-0
I understand your point as well.
eBay eliminates a lot of poor and unscrupulous sellers through the BBE initiative as designed. It is unforunate that good sellers get caught up in the web as well.
Shipping internationally has its pitfalls, that is why I do not partake though I do realize that a plethora of sellers do it successfully.
tobaccocardyahoo
·11 months agoIn the aggregate, sellers are important to Ebay, but few individual sellers are important to Ebay.
Every buyer is important to Ebay because not every item listed by every seller is going to sell. Some items will sell under 1% of the number of that item listed. Every buyer who leaves because of a bad experience with an international seller is 10s, 100s or thousands of items which may not sell.
The sellers who lose their ability to sell on Ebay are also likely to lose their ability to sell on the other major US internet marketplaces. Ebay may have fewer sellers and revenue streams than its competition but it is not a pygmy, and it still has to live with the legacy of the Pierre days when it attempted to emulate a marche ouvert, in spite of US law.

·11 months agoI am also a non-US seller using the dotCOM site, for the record.
It has been my observation that negs and neutrals are left by naive buyers who do not know how to use the Money Back Guarantee for poorly described or undelivered purchases.
And anecdotally only about 40% of transactions get any feedback at all.
With that, four neutral FB may be hiding dozens of unhappy customers including some who made and won Claims.

·11 months agoI don't understand - if they introduced new service metrics and they are determined automatically (just when opening a case), then why are there no ways to delete and appeal such cases? It was often easier to return the money to a customer who deceives that the goods do not match the description, than to pay for the return shipping and then try to prove something to eBay ... we have come to terms with this .. but now when a buyer simply opens a case and asks where his goods are (many international delivery services are not displayed in eBay tracking), and then receives the goods in 2-3 days and closes it - I do not understand why this is called "bad customer experience". International delivery cannot be perfect, the goods can lie at customs in the recipient's country for 2-3 weeks .. also the buyer may not receive the goods (was not at home) and the goods can lie in the branch and he does not pick it up .. and then opens a case - the seller is ALWAYS to blame
barn-tuning
OP11 months agoYes it is excatly why i suspended. Because one customer rescieved 1 day later than expected.
because i find a way to ship from Latvia to Australia, and customer think estemate time is guarentee but i cant control how fast works custom because i ship big package and it definetly will be held. And yes shipping takes 4 weeks but somehow ebay calculates that item will be recieved in 2 weeks. Like no! I use standart shipping method, look in the map, it is no way that package will be so soon in this distnace. So another case for me. And other cases ar similar. Yes one i shipped 1 day later because i was sick.
all customers are refunded if item is shipped back or lost. I take responsibilty for all my work.
and you are very right that many customers open cases just to ask where is item because they dont know how this affect seller profile and they shouldnt know. But ebay should now that how case is worked out should metter.

·11 months agoSome of us are immediately suspicious of sellers who "work with" their customers. Most sellers do not need to "work with" their customers. They list accurately, ship promptly, the orders arrive on time and in the condition described. There is no need to "work with" a customer. If the order is late, or damaged, or the listing is inaccurate, they accept a return and refund in full. No attempts to "work with". No compromises.
Ebay is more suspicious than we are.

·11 months agoMy situation is very similar to yours. In my last 100 transactions, I had only 3 so-called “defective†INR cases:
2 were opened by mistake, the buyers later confirmed they received the items.
1 parcel was lost in transit internationally, and I immediately refunded the buyer.
All of these were resolved without eBay intervention, yet I received a full selling restriction. There was no clear explanation of the exact reasons, and my funds are now on hold.

Unfortunately no one here can help you. You have to deal directly with Ebay. Only Ebay can resolve this issue. I do wish you the best of luck as it is likely going to take a lot of effort on your part.
On each Ebay page there is a link to contact Customer Service at the top of the page and again at the bottom of the page.
I would suggest that you contact Ebay for Business on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for the better trained CSRs.
Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service. Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is. Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message. It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.
https://twitter.com/askebay
https://www.facebook.com/ebay
https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/
Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.
If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.
If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.

·11 months ago190 days is six months roughly. Which is the time needed to make sure if any of your buyers file a PayPal claim, they can refund them. If no claim, you will get your money. As I always say to sellers, once eBay starts asking questions, requesting invoices, receipts, and restricting your account, stop selling. Every sale you make after that point is money that is going o be held.

·11 months agoI'm guessing that sellers that have been permanently suspended are not hanging around in the eBay community boards, since they can no longer sell here. They have probably quickly moved on to other seller sites. So, probably no one reading this has had the experience that you are having and can commiserate with you or give you advice. That is why for this particular topic, the only advice people can give you is to contact eBay, which is the correct advice for this topic. Just my opinion, regarding the 190 days, that is probably a case-by-case situation. EBay doesn't want to have to pay for a refund for something you sold, so the 190 days is beyond what credit cards will refund to dissatisfied buyers. Good luck.
