Strange what's happening to my sales: No sales in weeks
Going on 3 weeks and no sales. Scant if no views & watches. Not that watches matter. But I have yet to go without a sale on auctions or BIN this year, except the beginning of July. What happened?

·2 years agoSame here, its been going on since early summer, I sell candles and I'm doing well with other channels but not Ebay, I think EBay is dying. big change must happen otherwise this will become like Jets, com

·2 years agoDon't know much about candles, but I would think the high temps in the summer might impede sales.
You have kind of a neat watch table "lamp"....but only one pic which doesn't show the lamp (I'm guessing the brass arched thing is the light)..... with a few more pictures and a better description.........it could sell.....

·3 years agoYou only have 3 listings? Maybe that could be the problem, just saying for a friend.

OP3 years agoI'm taking a break and have pulled all of my listings until next month. I now have 3 listings active. I can't keep monitoring every single day to see if I'm getting watches and sales.

You still have one that is a fixed price listing..........if it sells and you don't see it promptly, that's going to hurt your stats........

·3 years agoIf you're just tired of it and want a break, that's totally understandable, but how long does it take to just glance at your account once during the day? You can always just let stuff run and take a minute to do that - you never know what might sell.

·3 years agoMy thoughts.
Amazon had their prime days this July. Think lots of people here felt that impact.
Economy truly isn't great right now.
Third, most of your items are in clothes and shoes, extremely competititve categories.
mam98031
·3 years agoNormally Prime days don't really impact us here. At least it hasn't affect me in the past or many other sellers that I've chatted with in previous years. I felt no difference this year because of it either. It is just a bad summer for sales period IMHO.

·3 years agoIt's not the economy - I know that's the drone, but I think we're feeling the real impact of competition. Poshmark alone has over 80 million users, Mercari has about 20 million users, Facebook marketplace has had actually over 1 billion users. I mean, we need to wake up to this.
ETA: And Shein is starting to onboard sellers, wooing them from Amazon.

·3 years agoHow do you explain it for sellers that aren't selling clothing or fashion items??
chapeau-noir
·3 years ago??? These sites carry pretty much everything. This is much bigger than 'clothing or fashion items'.

·3 years agoThe landscape has changed in the last few years. Leaving out the external factors and focusing on Ebay:
1. More than ever I believe price comps are important. I know its been this way for a while. Not only are we dealing with a more savy buyer with access to many platforms, but Ebay has a huge database of price comps. Example: Just yesterday I had an offer on a stamp I probably paid too much for. Tannu Tuva Republic, an obscure former protectorate of the Russian Empire. When I went to counteroffer, this is the message that popped up: "your counteroffer is above the price range of what buyers typically pay for items like yours" This is just one example.
Ebay algo has a price range of items we're listing no matter how obscure it may seem; and I don't need to state what will happen to your listing visibility should it exceed these algo ranges.
2. Competition: Covid brought any so many new sellers because of the lucrative ecommerce markets; along with the sellers came an enormous amount of new product dropped into the Ebay market. As things begin to settle, and we entered the so called, post covid phase, buyers left but we had the same amount of product. Not to mention the economy.
I feel sorry for those sellers that first entered ecommerce during the covid boom, because a massive dose of reality has come crashing down on their hopes and dreams.
3. Set it an forget it: I remember the infamous infomercial days. Those days are long gone, as is listing items on Ebay and letting them sit for eternity. Ebay wants action. Its play ball or kick rocks, as harsh as that may sound.
I've just skimmed the surface: I left out promoted listings, ever changing ecommerce markets, market share, Ebay buyer retention, new platforms popping up left and right (death by thousand cuts), summer slowdowns, and external factors such as a possible economic recession by the end of this year: which I might add is rapidly approaching.
I'm not sitting around and thinking of this stuff, that would be depressing. Its just the reality we find ourselves in.
Our part, as resellers, is to navigate around these obstacles and find the pathways that allows us to continue selling and make a profit.
Lete see how the rest of the year plays out.

·3 years agoIt is highly likely that most of the sellers that came here during the Pandemic are gone now. Sure some stayed, but most went back to work. It is one of the reasons we had such a decline in the seller numbers after the pandemic.
Most of our buyers or a great number of them anyway, come to Ebay through their search for stuff on Google. So you want to make sure your listings are Google friendly.

·3 years agoYou've only got a handful of listings in super saturated categories. Also, there seems to be a problem with a number of your photos - I don't know if it happened on upload or what, but they're showing only part of the item. Other photos I can't tell what the item is - you've got a nice Eileen Fisher set there, but I can barely make it out. I'd take another look at that and see what happened, particularly with the half photos.
People search and pull up a screen full of listings and scroll along - your photo needs to really grab them. If they only see part of an item, if the item is obscure, really small, etc., they might just skim on by. There is a LOT of clothing on here!
I usually have very steady sales if I list steadily (not much on the listing lately, though) and it's even slow for me here with just sales trickling in - the other sites where I sell are picking up some slack, but this is old doggy summer days.
So if it were me, I'd work on photos and just keep listing.

·3 years agoOkay, so it's not just me, then. I was seeing that and I wasn't sure if it was something with my phone or if the photos really did look like that.

·3 years agoWhat I see on your sold list is you have only had one sale in the month of July. OUCH! That has to hurt. I'm so sorry.
Summer is typically a terrible time for sales for many sellers. This summer does seem a bit worse than most. Historically for me, August is my worst month of the year, but come about mid September things pick back up and then we roll into the Holiday season.
In the meantime. Concentrate on upgrading your listings. That may help. Some of your pics could be improved, some are rather blurry or otherwise not crisp. You do a good job with your titles and description!!
You might try running a Markdown Sale since you have a store. However I'm not sure why you have a store unless it is the Beginner's store level. But if you have a Basic or above, you should be running over 250 listings regularly per month so that it will likely pay for itself and save you money.
I hope things improve for you very soon and for the rest of us in the same boat.

·3 years agoTry listing more items. Also, if you get negative feedback, try to get rid of them as soon as possible. My sales have plummeted as well the past couple of months. Going local now as we speak. Don't put your eggs in one basket.
