Starting a basic store on eBay vs staying with the 250 free
I have been selling on eBay since June 2025 and doing fairly well. I have recently come up against the 250 limit. Would like to know from someone who made the transition if they felt it was worth it or better to come up with a rotation to maintain the 250. Thx

·8 months agoThe FVF discount can cover the difference very fast. In computers, having a store gives you around a 6% discount. Selling a $350 laptop once a month covers the basic store cost (or anything totaling $350 in computer parts).
If you are doing $1000/mo in sales, the fee savings will cover the store cost in almost every case

·8 months agoYes, open the store before any listings roll over again. With 276 items already listed, each listing that rolls before the end of the month will incur a per-listing fee.

·8 months agoYour items sell for enough to absorb the pittance it costs to list them instead of sitting on salable merchandise because it's not 'free' to list. Sitting on several hundred bucks in potential sales just to save a dollar or so in listing fees makes little sense.
If you find your limits are increased enough that you can get to a break-even point, then spend the money on a store - the basic is a great option.
I believe there's a calculator on one of the help pages to assist with this.

·8 months agoI was in your shoes a couple of years ago. When I finally looked at the numbers, I realized that it more than paid off for me to have a store.
A store allows me 1000 listings vs. the 250 free. If just one of those 750 extra listings results in a sale of $30, then the store has paid for itself.
There are additional perks as well that make it even more "worth it", but the very basic math is that having an additional 750 listings will almost definitely pay for the monthly fee.

·8 months agoA store also allows:
Customer Coupons, Sale Events, Shipping Discounts etc
Pay 1% less in Final Value Fees.
Do some math and you can see if it's worth it.

·8 months agoYes you should start a store. You get benefits and discounts by starting a store. You can also continue to grow your business rather limit yourself. Now if you were just selling a few things from time to time then I would say no to a store but it sounds like you are here to stay so yes start a store.

·8 months agoSince you are a newish seller, you need to know what your selling limit is. Increasing your listings may not be possible, so a waste of money to pay for a store. Do you have lots more to list that would benefit from more free listing insertions?

·8 months agoEach individual situation is different. How much 'work' is it to juggle 250...if you mess up, it can get costly pretty fast. In addition to the extra listings, you get access to the marketing tools that are not available to the "non-store" listers. (that is the only reason 2 of my smaller accounts are the cheaper starter stores) but I do endorse the larger (basic-1000) store if you have the inventory to fill the slots.
