Starter store having problems finding how to change price
Hi - I want to lower the price on an item, and have the old price show up with the change. Can't find that option? Some posts here say it's not available for a starter store, other say it is? I've applied short term discount coupons, but how do I permanently lower a price and have that reflected? TIA in advance for any help for a newbie !

·Sep 9, 2026 at 8:30 PMI would run a markdown sale rather than just lowering the price. People love getting a 'deal'.

·Sep 9, 2026 at 8:22 PMTo permanently lower the price: Go to the listing......click on revise in upper left corner......change the price.......then go to the bottom of the page and click on Revise it. I think you may be missing that last step.....

In my experience running a sale must be meaningful. I've found a happy home at 25%. That's my clearance price. 30% or more can come across as desperate to some buyers, even if the 30%+ discounted price brings the cost down to the current market. On the other hand, 10% or 15% doesn't scream to the buyer, "Hey, you are getting a bargain!" That's really the goal of a sale.
I run my clearance sales almost continuously. Normally I'll do Monday through Thursday, let that one end, then restart it Friday night or Saturday-Sunday. I schedule them a month in advance so I don't have to worry with it. If there is a big holiday, like Labor Day Weekend, I may run it Friday-Monday and do a 10% sale on everything else in the store that isn't old inventory.

·Sep 9, 2026 at 6:02 PMI think you are talking about a "Sale Event" which is via the Markdown Manager (included with Starter Subscription according to eBay). On Seller Hub go to the Marketing Tab and under the Discounts link you create a Sale Event from the Dropdown.

OPSep 9, 2026 at 6:58 PMThanks! That worked, but it has to be time limited? So if the item doesn't sell, I'll have to redo the sale? Do you find sales or discount coupons are better for sales? Both seem to be time limited.

·Sep 9, 2026 at 7:17 PM · EditedYes, it has to be time limited, because if it's not, then it's not really a sale, it's just a phony regular price, and the "sale price" is the regular price.

OPSep 9, 2026 at 7:36 PMThanks, that explains that. I overpriced items (newbie!) now trying to correct. I suppose I could delist and do it that way?
