Start into 2023
Sakes seem dead for me. It seems that there is no traffic at all so barely any views. How did you start New Year? Any better?

OP3 years agoWhen i started worrying and posted this thread I was told I was panicking and it is just the beginning of the year. Well this time period (spring and summer are the busiest for the product i sell). So here we are in the first quarter of the year and see screenshot. And oh inflation was higher last year than this year. People had and have jobs and spend money- that is why there is inflation.

·3 years agoI'm in the same boat. I've been a seller for 22yrs. I have never experienced it this bad. I'm getting to pull the plug and move on. ebay is dead.

OP3 years ago@goldgoose „ebay is deadâ€
Ebay is making money off fees. The stock is doing good which means Ebay has sales and is making money. Your store is dead not ebay.

·3 years agoHi!
I finally slowed down some. I was hoping this would happen & it did. 1 site I sell on was keeping me busy. Now I have some time. I would be very happy if this kept up till March 😊🀠We have many Doctors, Vets, tests, labs, ect. appointments this month now.

·3 years agoMy sales are downright pathetic. I have been on ebay for twelve plus years and never before have I wanted to just quit ebay. I am a Top Rated Seller, with 100% feedback with around 1500 items in my store. I sell mostly vintage clothing, especially T-Shirts and hoodies. I know all the ins and outs of ending items and selling similar items, promoting my items, sales, good pictures, customer seriverive, free shipping etc. My sales are ridiculously low and have been so for a long time.

·3 years agoEverything thing that happens on ebay for sales is based on the economy. and right now as we all know the economy sucks. So hopefully in 2024 the American people will vote a new president in office who understands economics more then are current one.

·3 years agoROFL - last I heard the president of the US did not run the world economy, and the situation we are in is world-wide.

OP3 years agoPresident says Economy is growing and is strong. Employment exceeded expectations. Why is Ebay not growing and doing as great?

·3 years agoTerrible. 1,200 item store with 1 to 2 sales a day... if that! Terrible! No views on hundreds if items. Just depressing!

·3 years agoDefinitely selling more than average the last 24 hours. Maybe people are using their Christmas money on some new beauty products.

·3 years agoI had slow sales the week before Xmas.
Then, huge sales between Xmas and New Years Eve.
Then it dropped. Zero New Years Day, yesterday and started this morning with nothing. 2 Days 0; but today is a new day.
Looking at the weather, many people in many states have other issues to worry about (not counting Xmas spent, economy etc.)
After 12 years, I've learned- it always 'comes around'. Buyers that are meant to buy, will buy. Might not be this week, but it will be next week or next month.

·3 years agoSee, for me it was the exact opposite-- the weeks leading up to Christmas were great, and then it's tapered off since then. But I put a good part of the blame on myself because I haven't listed anything new in a couple of weeks. I need to get back in gear and start listing some of this stuff I have sitting around.

·3 years agoHi!
I am still doing good on other sites. I was really hoping for a little break & I just sold 60 more items. I do not list heavy items here. You would think they would/could give us a better shipping deal like other sites do. I really would like a 2 day break from packing items. Maybe next week I will have oneðŸ€ðŸ™
earthdreamer
·3 years ago@s.scharmu0 , are you aware that your listings show Pick Up Only, even though you also offer a shipping option?
s.scharmu0
·3 years agoHi!
If this is so then it is a glitch because you can not ship an item with pick up only. Everyone should know that. It is not worth my time trying to talk to them cause they do not help much lately...

·3 years agoFor manny people, the holiday spending spree just ended.
Continuing Inflation is a killer
Time to focus on & hope for improvement in spring 2023 ?

·3 years agoIf we're going by only into the 3rd day of a New Year I've had 3 on here and 2 on Bonanza, which, if you know Bonanza, says something about how well ebay is doing.
mike_jayroe
·3 years agoThanks for the tip on Bonanza. I think I will list a bunch of books that don't fit the two categories I have on e-bay.

·3 years agoTypically January is the month the Holiday Part Time Workers - get there pink slips and head to the unemployment office.

·3 years agoI watch my sales in a moving 30 day average. For the period 12/3 to 1/3 I am spot on my average for the previous 90. Not counting this ID, which I have not been listing much since Labor Day therefore expect sales to be few and far between. Still, had a few sales on this one in the last week to 10, not bad for having less than a dozen items on it.
johnrj1226
·3 years agoIn 41 years of selling never found that buyers would order stuff as fast as I wanted them to. But when they did they wanted it now. Patience is needed. Especially when a holiday, a hangover falls on a weekend and people that flew on Southwest are still trying to find their luggage.
mike_jayroe
·3 years agoSo far, three items. Two from New Years day, and one from this morning.
Hope to do much better than last year.

·3 years agoWhat? No:
"Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends
So Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz?"
slippinjimmy
·3 years agoHow many people buying parts for a Mercedes are doing it on New Years Day (or the day after)?
Personally I would not think about looking at how my sales numbers for 2023 are doing until at least the end of January.

OP3 years agoLast year got 47 sales in january and had sales right off the bat.
I didn’t have sales for several last days (some sales followed by cancelation and return). It felt Ebay was out of service but looking at stock today it looks like it was out of service for me . Yesterday I got 60 views total when 150-200 is normal for me.
The way you start off new year the way it is supposed to continue throughout. I do worry.
chapeau-noir
·3 years agoI have never found that to be true. It's all about what one lists and what price we list it at - and, I will admit, how good our SEO is if you sell in an incredibly super-saturated category like myself.
The year is now an entire 3 days old - I think patience and consistency is probably a good idea.

I guess it's along the same lines.
The wife always tells me...........
As you are on New Years Eve, so shall you be the entire year.
Guess I'm destined to be a grump all year 😂 (and glad I quit drinking)
