Spoofed listing with invalid item number
Beware of scam my store has now been hit with twice.
First case; Buyer purchased quantity one flywheel bolt. Sent as ordered, then messaged saying
"I purchased this through this link https://www.ebay.com/p/1811193014 that clearly advertises "Set of 9 BMW Genuine Crankshaft Flywheel Bolt Various Models 11227805885" for $9.55 with free shipping."
The last part of the spoofed link "p/1811193014" when the authentic link is https://www.ebay.com/itm/135796297141 I let the seller know the quantity ordered was 1, and an additional 8 would need to be purchased. Buyer then opened a "missing items" case which was found in our favor to be shipped correctly. Case closed.
Second case; Buyer purchased quantity 2 Wear indicator clips. Sent as ordered, then messaged stating "Hello, when I ordered this listing said it was for 10x, so I ordered 2 qty for a total of 20. I've received only 2 of the part. Please provide the remaining 18." following link https://www.ebay.com/p/1230704288 expecting 18 more to be sent free of charge. Correct link being https://www.ebay.com/itm/136311679308 notice the "p/" and "itm/" differences in URL. Buyer returned the two clips under "Not as described". Received return back, Reported it to eBay to try and get the defect taken off my store to not effect my seller level score. Haven't heard back. Disappointed but watch out!

·11 months ago@iwannagofastbmwparts that is not a "spoofed" page, that p stands for Product.
Under previous CEO Devin Wenig, eBay undertook a major catalog initiative where they attempted to create Product pages for many mass produced consumer goods with the idea of creating something kind of like Amazon has where there is one page for an item and then all of the sellers of that particular item are listed on that one page.
Auto Parts were a major focus for that initiative because they fit easily into a catalog format with standard manufacturer part numbers and it's one of eBay's biggest categories.
Unfortunately, the catalog initiative was ultimately a failure and largely abandoned by the current CEO who is no longer trying to compete with Amazon in that way - but you'll still see those /p/ Product pages lingering around and while they aren't usually linked to directly within eBay, they can still be found through Google searches.
The issue, as you have discovered, is that sometimes the main information shown on the product page is not accurate/doesn't match the information on your individual listing.
Commonly this happens when someone uses the same UPC code for a multi-pack of an item as for a single quantity of that same item, causing listings for the single item to be incorrectly included in the same product page as the multi-pack, leading to exactly the kind of confusion you are currently dealing with.
However, you should still only be held responsible for whether or not what the buyer received matches what was in your actual listing, not eBay's product page over which you have no control.

I see why your buyer was concerned. When I reviewed the listing, it reads to me that it is for 10 items. What else does the 10X that you put at the beginning of the listing? Do use the ISBs [item specific boxes] but you don't put in a description. Why do you have 10X in the title, what does it mean? It is unclear and without a description to call out what it means, it is easy to understand why the buyer is asking for 18 more parts free of charged since they had already paid you.

As to the other issue, a seller should never allow an open INAD to time out and allow the buyer to ask Ebay to step in. 99.999% [number made up by me], that will very rarely turn out good for the seller.
You need to resolve your claims right away or within a couple days of receiving the items back. If you don't voluntarily refund the buyer after the items are back in your possession and Ebay steps in and forces the refund, you don't just lose the entire amount the buyer originally paid, but you get the Defect on your
Seller Dashboard and Ebay does not refund the seller's selling fees.

·11 months ago@mam98031 - @iwannagofastbmwparts isn't the one who put the 10X in that title, eBay did it.
This is an eBay product page, so the information shown there isn't necessarily coming from the main featured seller, it's whatever eBay has for the catalog data for that item.
You can actually see that @iwannagofastbmwparts is the first listing shown in the "all listings for this product" section below and the title does not have 10X in it there.
And if you click the "see all details" button in that top main area to go to their actual listing, you can see that 10X is also not in the title there.
It is 100% an issue with eBay's catalog data and the seller has no way to change what is shown in the title or other details on that product page.

·11 months agoObviously, the scammer thinks you are an idiot and will refund or send him additional items.
It is not different from any false INAD claim, Ebay does not even look at a listing before ruling for the buyer.
If you did not authorize a return or refund, you earned the defect, just as any other seller who was wrongly accused does. Life on Ebay ain't fair.
