When this new Community system was implemented a few weeks ago, I noticed there was a lot of displeasure and gnashing of teeth over it.
But as with the other changes eBay has made over the years, all we have to do is accept it, adjust to it, and finally adapt to it. Then voila! - the complaints cease and we begin rolling with it, just as we did with the pain of Managed Payments a few years back.

·3 weeks agoI agree 100%, but I also get the frustration. This new joint (especially at first) wasn't just one change but a whole clown car of them, all at once. Now a month later, many of the features that weren't available then are now, so it's alllllmost like being back in the khoros world, but I reckon we might have lost some people permanently.

·3 weeks agoI'm not crazy about its functionality but I'm glad it's finally there.
BTW for anyone who runs into the problem of how it regards 'Return' as 'Send' ... just hold 'Shift' down while you hit 'Return' and it will behave like a normal line break. It's the same on Facebook Messenger, which has made me so used to doing this combo that I think my left pinkie always presses Shift before my right presses Return EVERY time, no matter where I am. And I'm a total nitwit, so if I can get used to something, you can too. 😉

·3 weeks ago(BTW I see in notifications that this^ comment was "approved." Up to this point I have seen approval only for comments/replies that included an image or web link, and not even ALL of those, only sometimes. But this^ is just an ordinary text-only comment. What the heck?

·3 weeks ago · EditedIt went to the thread. Then, the next day I received a message from whomever runs the new community post approvals, that my reply was "archived" and never was posted. When I then went to the original thread, I noticed that the word "locked" was added at the top.
All I could deduce was that my use of "hubris" was somehow offensive to someone, even though something as innocuous as "hubris" would have not mattered to Khoros.
The thread was from the OP who was bragging about having $18,000 in sales in June and really tooting his horn. Perhaps it could have also been about what he said and it was the current moderators who thought something was amiss with the OP ... akin to the old community when we saw "this thread is now closed to new comments".
Go figure.

·3 weeks agoI also seemingly get randomly approved or not approved comments. I'll get approved comments on normal plain text comments. I will have the exact same link approved sometimes and not approved other times. It all seems totally random.

·3 weeks agoYesterday I posted a direct link to an actual listing by a seller I was suspicious of ... didn't have it "approved" and it's still there now. Maybe "naming and shaming" is okay now??

·3 weeks agoNo. Whole different company, whole other staff. Yesterday for the very first time I saw a mod comment (I think her name was Laura?). And I've already forgotten what her comment was about, but yeah that was the one and only time I've seen any evidence of human moderation here.

·3 weeks agoWell, I welcome that. The previous generation of moderators were totally inconsistent and none of them I ever messaged would ever respond about anything. Letting someone who honestly asked for advice know what they were doing wrong would be "naming and shaming" if the wrong moderator saw it. Then I had an issue when the ebay shipping team sent me samples of their new card shipping supplies because they wanted me to review them on youtube and in the forums but one of the moderators kept removing the posts related to them and eventually even my contact at ebay shipping said they had no way to reign in the moderators.

I just tried messaging someone and can’t figure out how to start a new paragraph without submitting/sending my current paragraph. I don’t know how to hold the shift key and enter on my iPad. I tried shift lock as well and it still doesn’t work.
I thought ebay always says that a high majority of people go on eBay with mobile devices. So why make this hard for those people?

Click on View all under messages.......that takes you to a screen showing the message title........off to the far right.....there are 3 tiny/faint vertical dots......click on those and you'll get a choice of what to do with the message.....including "hide it"......which removes it from view.......

·3 weeks agoJust to clarify for @fern*wood the menu 3 dot thing isn't visible until you scroll down to the message with your cursor, and even when it does show, the dots are super tiny, LOL.

Edit: My mistake. I was thinking the discussion boards, not the messaging boards. I hate the DB "threading" (which I don't really understand). No feeling one way or another on the Messages thing.
