somehow listing gets sold for a price lower than actual listing price
So. Tricky situation . There are some listings that has bid/offer option enabled. Somehow buyer puchased item for a price lower than actual listing price without making offers. At least I have not accepted it personally. After contacting Ebay support they let me know that offer was sent from my side and all is fine, but I am pretty sure that I have never sent offer like that. Auto offering option? Does it works like that? I supposed that it gets price from accepted offer history before? I am pretty sure that auto accept option in listing is disabled too. Or happens something else I should worry about? Support member told me that offer was sent from me. Still I am pretty sure that not me nor someone else had done it. There was no physical action from my side. So the question is - what is it, what is the cause and how to deal with it?

·2 years agoThe first thing I would point to is the cart screwing things up....ebay has managed to just about make everything open to "offers" , the seller can put the "Best Offer" with the listing of even if it is a buy it now set price if the buyer asks any questions the question includes the ability to send back an offer to the buyer, so internally on the platform it recognizes the item now as classified "accepts offers" this in turn screws up the carts ability for neither the buyer or the seller to combine items(makes zero sense...but then again it is ebay)..when the cart recognizes it as an accept offer item it also block the buyer from finding if it is there the "Request New Total" button, and if it is there it blocks the buyer and sends a pop up declaring the item cannot be combined due to accepting offers....AND add to it ebays wonderful new grab your money as fast as they can scheme where the seller has no choice and ebay auto pays its! 1st off I have to ask where the logic is at preventing and item that has a lower price accepted "Offer" being blocked "Policy" so they say, yet will not explain the "policy"(they can't) and it is ok to combine the very same item if you paid full price....NOTHING ELSE HAS CHANGED!!!! So if I go in and revise the items price to reflect a buyers offer as the set buy it now price everything is good to go....Call me crazy...I have screen shots and messages set by buyers to back all this up...in fact over 300 cases since Oct 2023. AND YES MY STORE SETTINGS ARE CORRECT ebays techs have check it numerous times...as well as going through this step by step to recreate the issues even with a live cart and yet nothing not even an indication of a buyer with eligible items to combine...you know the line in the seller hub at the overview "orders" block of options at the bottom that is supposed to indicate and buyer with cart...BUT NEVER HAS INDICATED ANYTHING ANYTIME! So before you tear you hair out trying to figure out what wacky things have happened....look to the cart 1st...Trust Me!

Thanks for the offer on your horseshoe thing. I only looked at it to determine how your buyer received it for less. I'm not really interested in it.

OP2 years agoIt looks like auto offer work. Thank you again for clearing this situation.

·2 years agoThree times in your post you hedged and used the phrase "I am pretty sure". SO the simplest answer might be the right one - you are simply mistaken.
That aside ...
You might have enable automatic offers. You might have offered a dollar amount when you thought you were offering a percentage discount, or vice-versa. It's also possible the buyer hacked your account and sent an offer to himself.
Knowing the amount of the item and the amount of the offer might help us. ex. was this a $1 discount on a $100 item, or a $499 discount on a $500 item?

I looked up the OPs last sale. It was yesterday a horseshoe, I used terapeak to look up the sold price said it sold for $300.
I'm still leaning towards auto- accept offer even though the OP says otherwise. I think @golfingaddict nailed it.
I sincerely doubt it was a hack, if it was, wouldn't you think a hacker would hack off more than $100 bucks?

OP2 years agoProbably you are right about one of these options. At least I have not enabled auto offer option intentionally. 100 USD down from 400 USD . So user offer became 300 USD in the end. I checked Offer Settings-
Automatically send offers option is on, Automatic offer amount is 300 USD indeed. And this is strange because even if I accidently switched Automatically send offers option on, then fromwhere 300 USD appears?

·2 years agoYou may have inadvertently selected send offers automatically. It is a setting that gets selected if you send an offer to someone.
You can read about it at this link:
Adding Best Offer to your listing and sending offers to buyers | eBay
Automatically send offers
You can save time by enabling offers to be sent automatically to buyers interested in your current listings . You can change the settings for your automatic offers by going to active listings and selecting the status With offers sending automatically. This filters all your listings with the automation setting enabled.
Select View Offer settings to manage your automation setting.
Here you'll be able to:
To turn off automatic seller initiated offers
Advanced offer automation for Store subscribers
eBay Store subscribers can now set up rule-based automatic offers. Instead of manually opting listings into automatic offers, you can select the criteria for what listings to include and set the offer terms. We'll automatically send your offer to eligible buyers who show an interest in listings that fit your criteria—including any new listings you create. You can set how long your automatic offers will run, for a maximum of 150 days.
Here's how to create and manage your rules for automatic offers:

OP2 years agoOh. Thank you so much. That is it, somehow sending Automatic offer is enabled. Still I cant understand where from does Ebay takes Automatic offer amount - I have not entered it manually, and I dont remember that there was any offer with current offer price which I confirmed in the past. There were no deals for that price, so yes, interesting to figure out where from does Ebay pulls prices for aumatic offers in this case.

I'm glad it was figured out for you.
Have a good rest of your week and happy selling!

·2 years agoIf you have Best Offer enabled you may want to look at what the maximum offer acceptance price is and if you set up an auto accept price when creating the listing. If your buyer reached your auto accept price they get to purchase at that price without having you accept or decline the offer.
