Sold sneakers on eBay: Return Case opened, and a COMPLETELY different pair of shoes were returned???
SNEAKER SELLERS BEWARE
So last month, I sold a pair of Nike Georgetown Dunk Lows (eBay item number:145099751026).
As a part of eBay 'Guaranteed Authentication' program, the seller (me) ships the shoes to an authenticator (shipping slip provided by eBay), and then once the Authenticator reviews the shoes to match listing details, they send the shoes to the buyer. I've maybe sold 20+ sneakers through this method.

This time however, I got a return case opened up saying that the 'Style Code' of my sneakers and the listing did not match, and therefore the shoes would be sent back to me.
After comparing the Style Code on the sneaker box with the Style Code on the listing, I found that this case reason was BOGUS. The Style Code was in fact CORRECT, and matched the listing.
So, I appealed the case and the appeal goes into 'Review' state. BTW, the shoes are already on the way back to me so not sure what the point of appealing is?
Once the 'shoes' are returned to me, I find out that there is A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PAIR OF SHOES in the return box??????? As-in, the shoes I sent (Nike Dunk Lows), were removed from the box, and replaced with a completely different pair of shoes (Vans), and sent back to me.
Bottomline: I sold a pair of Nike Dunk sneakers on ebay, packaged and sent them exactly as required. EBay authenticator (or someone in between) returned the shoes BUT swapped out the original Nike Dunks I sent, with a used pair of Vans. WHAT IS EBAY DOING ABOUT THIS?
Extra detail: I've been selling for 10+ years now. This happened one time before with an item that was $1000+, and ebay + paypal never resolved the case, leaving me pretty much at a loss.

·3 years agoNo one here can answer your question. Ask Ebay and when you get the answer return with your problem and the resolution to let other seller know.

·3 years agoI think the return should go back to authentication before they are returned to seller.

·3 years agoAFAIK, they are.
In fact as they didn't pass in this case, they never left the authenticator except to be returned to seller.
