Sold an item, buyer paid, buyer is shown as "not a registered user"
Summary: zesty.tra_97 sold an item on eBay and noticed the buyer's account was listed as "no longer a registered user" after the payment. They sought advice on whether to ship the item or cancel the order. Several participants shared their experiences, with some suggesting to wait or cancel the order, while others noted that shipping after receiving payment had not caused issues for them. zesty.tra_97 later confirmed they contacted eBay and opted to cancel the order and the shipping label, adhering to eBay's suggestion.
As the title states, I sold an item and printed the label shortly after I was notified. As part of the purchase, payment is immediate so the buyer paid already. When I clicked on the user , eBay shows that the buyer is "No longer a registered user".
Do I ship the item? Or cancel the order?
Edit: I messaged the buyer to verify address and ask about the "No longer a registered user" status.
Thank you in advance.

·3 weeks ago · EditedJust so you know.. Such great advice here but
in the United States, it is illegal to send mail to a fictitious, false, or assumed name or address. Both the Postal Service and federal law make it a crime to do so.

·3 weeks agoWrong... These buyers are buying thru the GUEST option. Once they pay, it's not only fine to ship, but is the seller's obligation to ship. And there are no monsters under your bed, kibble.

OP3 weeks agoThank you all for the quick responses. I was able to contact eBay and they suggested cancelling. I was able to cancel both the order and shipping label.

·3 weeks agosince it happened so quickly, my advice would be to reach out to ebay and get the defacto answer from them.
There are a million reasons why a account may no longer be registered, both on purpose or by an act on ebay's behalf.
Otherwise unless you get a message from ebay stating to not send anything then you are normally obligated to do so.
you got paid, so..........

·3 weeks agoThat's happened to me a few times.
I tried to contact the buyer (as you did) and never heard back.
I never shipped the item and kept the money.
I'm probably going to hell.

·3 weeks agoThis is one of those situations where I would cancel the order due to an issue with the buyer's address. If their account is no longer registered, they are not going to be complaining to eBay.
I'd also be thankful eBay figured them out.

·3 weeks agoWhat I wouid do depends on how long it has been since the buyer made the purchase.
From time to time, after some orders are received I receive a message from Ebay asking me not to ship an order because of an issue with the buyer. It may be two or three days after the order. Usually, I have shipped the order when it arrives.
Since you know the buyer has been NARUed, you may decide to hold off shipping.
zesty.tra_97
OP3 weeks agoThank you for the quick response. I have been trying to be timely with shipping so it has only been a few hours since the order was placed. I'll wait a day and see if I receive an email.
Since you've already shipped the item, what happens with the sale? In this case, I'm worried of shipping and then the buyer does a chargeback or states that the item wasn't shipped or wasn't what was listed. This one is not an insignificant amount and I don't want to lose the item and the funds.
Thank you again for the information. I appreciate it.
