Sold a big item to a suspicious account
Sold a rather expensive item to an account with no activity. Due to error on my part, it was sold to someone overseas. I didn't want to look bad a cancel the purchase, so I went ahead and shipped the item. If somehow this is a scam how should I handle this?

·3 days agoYou appear to be using Ebay International Shipping on your other listings.
If you shipped this listing to the Ebay hub in Glendale, once your shipment arrives in Glendale and is checked by Ebay, your job is done.
There was no reason to worry about the sale.
EIS shipments are the safest sales you can make on Ebay.

·3 days agoFor the future, if you have the option of using the Ebay International Shipping program, that is the safest way to sell to international buyers.

·3 days agokeep us update of how the scam works. i due my own due diligence after ebay finds me a buyer. Sure it might hurt my metrics but ebay isnt going to help me pay my mortgage payment either.
On big ticket items , i would never sell to someone with just a few sales, especially not 0. They have a setting where you can not allow certain people to bid on your items, like someone with less than 10 transactions or i believe someone with lower than XX.XX seller rating if i remember correctly. Either way you can attempt to filter them out but even people with seasoned accounts will get ya given the right opportunity.
Everyone is going to worry when u send something out that costs a substantial amount of money. Not everyone sales items that are $5.00 and could care less if it gets scammed.

Seriously. You cannot worry about this type of thing. I would not assume they are a scammer. All that worry and stress isn't good. So let go and don't borrow trouble. If they try to run a scam, before responding, come back here for advice. Tag me in the post so I see it.
I do not know what type of scam you are worried about. You (should) already know that the no returns policy does nothing for you. If your buyer opens an INAD, you will handle it by either refunding them or having them return it ot you for a refund. The latter is what I'd do. Upon receipt you issue a refund. If they lied about the return reason you can report them. If you want to sell high end stuff online and want a 100% guarantee you won't ever be scammed, those are desires that won't ever be fulfilled in this lifetime. There is always a risk of a scam. It happens on low dollar stuff and high dollar stuff. You build up a business so that you can absorb losses, even big ones.
You did the right thing by shipping. Kudos there.
