I posted over 30 magnetic bumper stickers for NCAA football teams. Sold **1**. The rest sat there, mostly, with 0-1 views. I tried selling with free shipping. It did not help. The one I sold, after fees, tax & S/H cost, I ended up with $3.50 from $18.95. PO is an hour return walk. Not worth it for a $3.50 sale. Where is your college team spirit, USA?? lol Of course, these had zero competition. Does not matter on eBay. If I were a US seller with 3,000 listings, all of them probably would have sold. Stop being negative about buying from Canada! 😛 🙂

I have sold many college related items.
I just remembered that the odds of selling college items vary a great deal with the college and the alumni of the college.
Used to be that certain of the ivies were more likely to have their alumni buy memorabilia than others of the ivies.
Also was true that Big 10 memorabilia sold better than the ivies.
Nowadays, I am more likely to sell items related to a small college in the midwest which lacks a football team.

·1 year agoMost likely it simply doesn't occur to anyone to do so. (If you want to really pull a prank on someone, put the thing back on upside-down and see how long it takes anyone to notice.)

·1 year agoMaybe it's the "magnetic" bit that's the problem. I don't know how the cars are in the States but here in the UK I'd say most, including mine, have plastic bumpers.

·1 year ago@sakic92710 - football season is getting underway here so keep up with the stickers, though we have all kinds of stickers and patches here, too, so buying from Canada may not occur to people. Also, we trashy type people who hold our jalopies together with bumper stickers need the real sticky kind.

·1 year agoI see a few issues here that probably got in the way of more sales. If someone is enough of a fan to want to put the team on their car then they have probably already attended the school or a game and got their sticker/magnet there for maybe $5 tops. If they wanted to buy one on-line they would probably not seek out a Canadian seller first due to either price or shipping time (or both).
Another minor point: most cars nowadays have plastic bumpers so the magnetic materials have to be stuck directly on painted sheet metal - tailgate or whatever. Leave them there long enough and it leaves behind a shadow outline in the paint when removed. I would go with either window decals or a license plate frame.

OP1 year agoSince they are magnetic, they don't HAVE to be used on a bumper. Anything metal would be good AND they can be removed easily so they don't leave any marks from being there permanently. I've even tried selling uncut sheets of 4. Perfect for framing. See those anywhere around? Not likely.

·1 year agoWith flea-market items sales come and go as the crow flies. Inflation is not as rosy as the media would like people to think it is. That can put a damper on sales.

OP1 year agoInflation, also, isn't as bad as the general public believes it is. SEVERAL millions of $$ is spent online every day across North America. You just have to be one of the lucky ones who gets the attention needed to make those sales.

You're one to talk about "using the same material" over and over again. I think this is about the 3,000th time I've seen you moaning about nobody buying your stuff. I'm not sure what they call this in Canada, but down here in the lower 48 it's known as "the pot calling the kettle black."

OP1 year agoThe $2.00 ones are adhesive & stuck on permanently. Mine are reuseable & don't only have to be stuck to a bumper. Apply to anything metal. I never applied any to my cars, either. Some people do use them. I did not know everyone does the same thing as you. lol

·1 year agoIn fairness, you don't have many items listed and your asking prices are high considering the current market.
Have you considered listing different items? Obviously, you have had some success over the years and maybe it is time to change up your type of listings.

OP1 year agoUnsure why you think my prices are high. I check sold listings. I try to go below what it appears to be selling prices. For instance, my lot of train/railroad photos is well below $1.00 a piece. As an example. Everything allows for best offer, too. Sold 1 item today with an offer.

·1 year agoEither they are not in demand, or your prices may be higher than anyone else would pay. Perhaps both of those scenarios could exist at the same time. If you are consistently repeating the same actions with the same outcome, it may be time to consider making a change.

OP1 year agoConsidering some regular bumper stickers sell for $8-9 US + S/H & can only be used once, I think $14 total for reuseable ones is a very fair price. No reason for me to give them away & not going to cater to cheap people.

·1 year agoThe problem may not have anything to do with what you are selling or eBay, considering your feedback percentage lacks confidence. One can either look within and make necessary adjustments or can accept their current position and refrain from complaining. JMO.

Although your feedback percentage is fairly low, I was not insinuating that was the problem you may be having.
Hint* It is not any of these 3 things -
1. Your feedback or buyers
2. Items you are selling
3. The platform (eBay)

Apparently, this might be your reason.
I suggest that although this logic may be correct to justify a price, it may not be a reason to believe that it justifies offering these items on Ebay.
Many fans will buy such items when presented with them at a college store or at a game who would not buy them on the internet and wait for them to be shipped and arrive.
Many Ebay buyers would not buy them because they want cheap, and the single use bumper sticker for a buck suits them better.
They do not even make the grade as a novelty gift to a high school senior who has just been accepted to the college. In the same price range I sell circa 1910 tobaccocards with colleges, and those are a neat inexpensive gift.

OP1 year agoFortunately, I only paid about $1.00 a piece for them so I made 250% profit on that one. The potential is out there. Nowadays, it is just so slow moving!
