·1 year agoYes, it has been slow sales.
I just feel the EIS and not using eBay Shipping (Labels) play a factor...which I don't use because I get my postage cheaper with tracking than with those.
And with free domestic shipping the eBay fee is not as high as others who use EIS or eBay shipping labels.
Listing more items doesn't help as I see.
Promoting at 10% and lower price than exact same items of other sellers does not help either.
I just can't see promoting above 10% for something to sell.
And the kicker...I do get 'repeat buyers' every week so one can't say nobody wants my items.
But to just get 'repeat buyers' every day and not many new buyers...those algorithms are out there.

·1 year agoI definitely wouldn't use a close-up of the logo as the main pic. Wouldn't a pic of the whole garment get noticed better? There are 23 other pics if you want a logo close-up. Good luck~

·1 year agoI have always done free shipping but I'm trying something different ...I lowered my prices by 3.00 and now I'm charging 2.99 shipping, I will eat the extra 1.50 for the shipping difference , it's just on the items that weigh less then 4 oz. and I'm doing 12 % promoted listings, I also use an eBay Calulations app...it's free and it tells me exactly what I will make after everything is deducted.

·1 year agoI don't pay that much in shipping, I'm paying the difference which ranges from 1.50 to 1.96 since the buyer is paying the 2.99 of it

So you are paying about $4.49-$4.95 for the actual label which is what I factored into the eBay app. Actually I was a bit on the low side.

·1 year agoUsed clothing is one of the most competitive categories to sell on Ebay.
Promotion is usually necessary for most brands.
Look at your own listings and see the sponsored ads on your pages, and how they compare to your listings.
Those sellers are desperate enough to price lower and give up some of their profit margin to make sales.
Get out a pencil and paper or your calculator to see what your profit would be if you competed head to head with them on price and paid Ebay's recommended Promoted Listing fees. The consider whether it is worth the time, investment and effort to sell these products on Ebay.

·1 year agoI wouldn't consider buying a $20 guitar with a $150 shipping charge either.
The charge may well be accurate, although I notice it is actually higher to my fake US address than to my actual address in Canada.
Are you using eIS for international sales? You have better Seller Protection on those than on domestic sales with eIS.
Can you raise the asking price for the guitar and lower the cost of shipping? EG $175 guitar with Free Shipping? (You know that's how "free" shipping works, right?)
You might do better with better photos. Those guitars look like they were made of Lego because of the bad cropping.
If you are having problems with photoshopping, try setting up a background with a clean white sheet over a chair and take a "no background clutter" photo that way.
Were those early attempts? Other pictures seem better cropped. Maybe just retake the pictures now that your skills have improved?

·1 year agoAll I can tell you is what has helped me, which may or may not help you. Since search results are automatically queued by title, I like to give attention to that first. Once a buyer see their search results, then they can see my main pic of my item before having to click on the link to open.
On several of yours, there is a redundancy of first your title, and then a close-up of the logo. It's not until they click on the listing until they see the garment.
Additionally, check your spelling:

·1 year agoNot sure how you build the shipping cost into your pricing but you may want to consider listing a few items with calculated shipping and adjusting your price accordingly. You are on the east coast so if you are factoring in the worst possible shipping cost, aka to the west coast, into your shipping cost then you may potentially be loosing some east coast customers.
The other issue with free shipping is about 1/2 of the states do not charge sales tax on shipping costs if it is separately identifiable and as such you as the seller are not paying FVF's on the sales tax for the shipping portion. It's not a huge amount but it represents some savings for both the buyer and the seller.

OP1 year agoThat's real good info. That's my next step. I never considered we may be over charging for shipping. Very much appreciated

·1 year agoYou might want to do some price comping - your prices are high for mid-range labels in used clothing.

·1 year agoHave you considered running a sale? I don't sell clothing, but I do find that when things start to lag a bit running a sale and/or putting out a coupon which you can send to previous buyers/followers will at least garner a bit of traffic, and usually at least a couple of sales.

OP1 year agoDidn't think of that. We will try both thanks do much
