Since when do we get no notice on an offer being accepted that we make as a buyer? | Selling

I made an offer on an item. I guess it was accepted. I got no notification. Ebay paid it out of my account. I didn't even know about it. The seller just sent me a message offering other items. When I go and look, the purchase is in my Purchases. But, I knew nothing.
